What's up with this unexplained hip pain??

Hopefully you can take away the "unexplained" part.

Last week, I slept on my stomach for the first time in several weeks. When I woke up, I had a horrible pain in the front of my right hip, so bad I could barely move my leg around (i.e. when walking). I've been pretty good about sleeping on my side since then, but it stopped working a day or two after the first time. It's just gotten worse and worse. Today the pain never went away, unless I took Ibuprofen.

What's up with this? How do I stop it? I'm only 14, so it's not like I'm aging or anything.

  1. I'm 15 and i've been having the problems with my hips and knees since the 3rd grade. My hips pop out of place everytime that i relax the muscles. I went to physical therapy and she gave my excercises to do to make it hurt less. It is most likely caused by the alignment of your hips with the rest of your body. Or you may be growing at a rate your body is not use to. Do squats with your knees and ankles aligned. It hurts but is worth it. Also the excercise bands around your ankles that you pull apart work and make sure they are tight. Stick to pain killers just not to many. If you are a runner try to stick to paved flat surfaces and when you are feeling the pain don't push yourself to hard. And the way you are sleeping on it may have a bit of a part to do with it. I find that if i put more weight on it. It feels better after a while.

  2. have you tried stretching it or anything? the other day my hip starting hurt (from dance practice) and i just had to keep stretching it and it has gotten alot better!
