What's with all the American hunters at the Edmonton airport?

Why would we even think of letting non-Canadians come into our country and kill our wildlife?

Do Albertans think that's O.K.? Do other Canadians?

  1. Each year, Alberta Fish and Wildlife issue a certain number of Tags to hunt.  This is done to control the population and there is a lot of stuff the Alberta Government does to ensure the safety and healthy numbers of wildlife population.

While I am not a hunter, I am an Albertan I'm very unbiased with regards to this.  I say let them come over, use the Edmonton Airport and help boost our economy.

  2. I think its ridiculous. For the preservation of our wildlife, keeping hunting within Canadian borders for Canadians, and for the simple fact that I prefer their guns South of the border.

*Master Python---> I live in the far north of Ontario, where bears are everywhere......the only people who get attacked are those that chase looking for a picture or taunt. And haven't heard of an attack in years..............

  3. Each province needs a certain amount of hunters and hunting licenses sold, and a certain amount of game taken to cull out the wildlife  census.  This has been going on for years, it is good business ...the hunting lodges need the clientele, from the States, or Europe or where ever  the govt needs the $$ from the licenses.

Also Canadians go to the States to hunt game there...so it does even up.  Evidently your lively hood  does not hang on the amount of hunters that come in for a particular hunt.

  4. As much as I disagree with hunting, I am told that Northern Alberta has some of the best hunting, therefore the Americans like to travel here.

  5. We need all the hunters we can get.  There are not nearly enough in either country.  If the numbers drop too low they start canceling hunts.  They canceled the spring bear hunt in Ontario and the bears attacks have skyrocketed.

  6. I think hunting should be banned entirely aside from subsistence hunting by natives.

Wildlife is of far more value as a tourists attraction than lying dead on some yanks or canucks car roof.
