What's with all the Kimbo Slice hate?

i agree with u all that he can't comepete with the likes of Chuck Liddell. Not many dudes can. If u watched the ESPN segment on him this is an amazing story. He was going to get a football scholarship but Hurricane Andrew cancelled his senoir football season and he could not get. Than he goes from a youtube street fighter to being an MMA fighter. How can u knock him for being undefeated. Than u guys say well has has not fought anyone good. Well why the h**l would he do that in his 1st 3 fights. He is good for the sport because he is bringing money and attention that the sport needs. Now I know he has a long way to go to be really good and compete with UFC fighters but again after 3 fights not many people are. With a great trainer that he does have he has the potential to be an above average fighter and I will be rooting for him to do so. So stop hating this guy for no aparent reason at all. When he would rip all of u to shreads. This is a great story that people should be embracing.

He's type-casted as a "villain" because MMA, like other sports is a profit business, so they have to have themes like WW Wrastlin' to obtain a larger fan base for their advertisers.

Realistically, he is an educated, proficient fighter, his cousin is one of the best judo instructors in the country, and if Bas Rutten is willing to work with him - he can obviously conduct himself like a professional.

I think some people don't like that equally skilled athletes may have received less notoriety because they didn't possess the same antics. (much like Tank in his day)

that fight was rigged. kimbo should have lost due to the fact he wasn't defending himself. the ref let them up while kimbo was in trouble, the other guy had side controll!!!! SIDE CONTROLL!!!  what a moron

first, had he wanted to play college football he could have played it, assuming he was good enough.  Just b/c his senior year was cancelled don't mean he couldn't go walk on or make contact with some college programs and get some sort of spring tryout.

I agree he is somewhat good for the sport. Basically, what they are doing is saying here's a guy with hundreds of thousands of internet fans that recognize him and want to follow him as a pro which we can all make some money from. The only problem is the guys he's beaten were either much smaller than him and having to fight his style, or in terrible physical shape, or probably having no actual fight training.

So, the issue is, XC better get their act together and not let that farse of a so-called mma fighter continue to win by rigging the matches or stopping them the moment he lands a combo.  They might as well just let him lose and be another Tank abbott. He's got his internet fans tuned in now, I don't think it's a necessity that he goes to 10 and 0 or anything

Because the people who are still ignorant of MMA< including alot of sports writers and politicians, beleive that MMA is a bunch of untrained, untalented, worthless peices of trash throwing there fists at each other. And Slice playes right into that. He is everything MMA has tried to get away from since its inception. Maybe he does have potential, and thats fine. No way in h**l should he be main eventing ANYTHING right now.

I love how the ref stepped in when Slice was backing up, and Thompson was about to throw some punches.

He's not an MMA fighter. That's the problem. Do like they do in UFC and put him in against one of the best to make or break him and I guarantee he breaks just like Sean Gannon did who owned a street fight victory over Slice.

I saw Kimbo this weekend and I was not disappointed. I expected it to be a brawl . It was a brawl. He won. End of story! So where is the beef?

I don't dislike him. I just believe he is over-rated.  I thought the fight last night against Thompson humbled his fans. (I know that Kimbo is humble, I have watched interview after interview with him and he has said that he knows he has a lot to learn).  I think Gary Shaw has a money maker and he is protecting him.   I also believe Mauro (the Elite Announcer) is such a greasy used car salesman and thinks he needs to sell Kimbo to everyone (YUK!)

I acually agree with what your saying. I just dont like kimbos attitude. In an ESPN cover story on him, kimbo was talking **** about martial arts and said the "A" in mma dosent stand for "art" it stands for apocolypse. He also didnt pay his dues, you got guys who have been fighting and training for years and still arent on tv. Just because he got famous on youtube the TV moguls want to cash in. Thats not right.
