What's with the Redeem Team's shooting?

First of all if you're going to say "Kobe sucks, LeBron is number 1!" Or vice versa, then just don't even answer.

Now...onto my question.

The USA, with the exception of D-Wade has been shooting very poorly.

Kobe is 0-8 from 3 pt range.

USA is 64% from the free throw line.

USA outside of the paint shooting has been terrible.

Against teams like Spain who have Pau Gasol and a lot of length, can we rely as much on the inside game with Howard?

Also, what are your opinions on the cause of this poor shooting?

outside of redd, the usa team doesnt have very good deep range shooters, even though the 3 point line is shorter.

even against spain, youd expect usa to run and rely on turnover to get easy buckets.  usa will score in the paint regardless of whos in the paint or not, lebron and wade are very good at getting to the rim.  as long as they play smart and just attack the rim, usa should still come out on top.  

i think usa will use bosh more because of his mid range and ability to attack the rim, board and play in the block, it should create difficulties for the spanish team.  

only way i see usa losing, is if they start settling for jump shots, and spain keeps their turnovers low.

again, i think they need to play bosh more at the pf and not melo.

as for the ft shooting, lebron, wade, melo, howard arent that great at shooting fts anyway, so its natural to have the % be low, but 64% is just horrible.

In case you haven't noticed Zach, most of the players in the NBA can't shoot good enough to hit the backside of a barn!   Everybody wants to dunk; if they can even do that.   For my money, it sure wouldn't hurt to have Sam Casell out there.   If you really want to benefit the USA Olympic Basketball team, put at least 3 college players on the team.  I'm sure you can find that many collegiate players that can shoot!
