What's with the levels on this site???

i mean, i know u go up a level for getting so many points but i just don't get what the levels are actually for!!

Don't understand the ethos myself, but it is funny to watch the scrapers, but thumbs down on answers they think are better than theirs.

It's just an incentive to make you answer more questions. I am at level 5 I think, it will take ages to reach level 6. I have been asking questions, which loses points. I have lost interest now in 'levels'
