What's with the starting lineup for the US men's Olympic soccer team?

Why wasn't Jozy Altidore starting? Of course McBride, Adu, and Altidore should all be starting, so why wasn't Adu moved back to midfield where he's more effective anyways? Adu is best when he's running at defenders and making passes forward, so shouldn't he be in the midfield? Did you see what he did against Spain in the US friendly? As a forward he wasn't getting the ball with any time or free space, and was always having to play with his back to the goal. That isn't his strength. Slide Kljestan over and put Adu in the center. Robbie Roger's should be a sub. He was too predictable in the Japan game. I would actually like to see Adu replace Bradley, but that won't ever happen. I believe in having the best players on the field, so there's no way Adu, Altidore, or McBride should be on the bench during these Olympics.

Does anyone agree?

What other changes do you think should be made?

  1. They suck

  2. i agree with persom

  3. Wow---I was thinking exactly the same thing.  Yes, I agree....I'd like to see Altidore and McBride on top, and Adu looking for those two big targets with crosses, then changing it up and making runs into the box himself.....What great options....

  4. novak has the US playing conservative.

I think he has a 2 target forward(jozy and mcbride)

with an a-mid behind(freddy) attack as a back up plan.

novak will probably use this type of offense if the US goes down a goal and the game goes late.say 70th-80th minute mark.

but novak is playing the US in a conservative style until he has no other choice.
