  1. C'mon Denis, this is the Masters. They could use crushed diamonds if they wanted to but they use white sand.

  2. It is probably gypsom like in the White Sands National Park in Alamagordo NM.  Its not sand and when I tried to look it up on the internet it had to many different versions.  But I went to the White Sands missle range as a kid and the whole place is white, like snow.  We even brought home a butter dish full of the stuff because no one had ever seen pur white sand.

  3. it looks more like a video game than a video game does. (the whole masters that is)

  4. i know what you mean the sand in the bunkers at my local course looks like it came off the nearest building site!!

fortunately i don't land in them to often.

i land in the drink instead lol

  5. Actually, it is actually sand....and very expensive sand. It is a white silicate (or silica) sand. That sand is not native to that part of Georgia, and like a lot of places that use that white silica sand, it is trucked in from a few other places in the country. I can tell you (I lived for a year in Las Cruces, NM, and I work in the golf business) that the sand does not come from White Sands in New Mexico. Not the National monument or the missile range. Believe it or not, a lot of it comes from Idaho. It is used for aesthetic purposes primarily, but also has a favorable "penetrometer" rating for use in sand bunkers on golf courses. And no, I won't go into the "penetrometer" thing. I think testing sand in that manner to determine whether to use it on golf courses is insane and only increases the cost of a game that already is costing too much.

  6. there is one tournament on PGA tour where bunkers are not allowed to be in perfect occasion like they are on tour - I cannot remembe who was hosting tournament (could have been arnold palmer) but he said the perfect bunkers like at Augusta are not a hazard as they are easier to play out of then rough - especially as the pros practice out of them so much.

They are raked to within an inch of their lives and after the match where they were not raked as much and not super smoothe a lot of pros complained!

They should play out of the bunkers on my course - every one play differently!!!!!!!!!!  or is that my golf swing!
