What's wrong with Hamilton this season?

After an impressive debut last year, he has not won a race this year. Could it be that he did better last year because Alonso helped with his car's settings?

  1. I can't tell if you are really asking a question or if you are making a statement in support of Alonso.

Lewis is doing fine this year. Besides his mistake at Bahrain and a slip-up at Malaysia he has pushed the car very well and his race yesterday in Turkey was one of the best ever (he was able to beat a car that under normal circumstances would have been 0.2 sec faster per lap)

  2. I think he is having a hard time adjusting to the F1 car without traction control.  Last year he "learned" to drive a F1 car with TC now he must relearn how to drive the car.

  3. i think he is too old for f1 or may be he is fed up of ending in the podium and giving others a chance to experince it or may be he is having hard time without any contreversy or he needs a double world champion to fight with.

  4. lemme remind u, Lewis is still a rookie( even after the blistering performance of last year)... its only his second year in F1... If u look at the other top drivers like Raikonnen, Massa etc. U'll notice dat these guys r an experienced lot....wid  at least 4 to 5 years of F1 experience under their belts...

he's not doin bad at all...look at his 2nd place finish at the Turkish GP where he held off kimi to prevent a Ferrari 1-2..

  5. There is nothing wrong with him. probably the current McLaren car settings is preventing him to be on the top of the chart.

Last season he did well, their cars were in good shape, and being a rookie we evidently seen his mistakes. but based on the previous races this year, he seems to be trying  on his best.

Most of the drivers are equally talented. it really depends on the car's performance.

  6. "Yep - - only second in the Drivers Championship so he must be a failure."

Look again, he's third in the WDC.

He can't steal Alonso's car settings anymore.

  7. The Mclaren isn't quite as good as the Ferrari and the inexperienced driver line up are struggling to set up and develop the car to their tastes. The gap is not large though and I think the championship will still be close. Monaco and Montreal are Hamilton favourites too.

  8. Yep - - only second in the Drivers Championship so he must be a failure.  The guy had a couple of minor incidents - maybe trying too hard allied with a little bad luck.  Other than his tyre problem, he'd have won yesterday.

There seems to be no clear indication that Alonso made much difference last year either on car development or race setup.

Actually, Gromit, he and Massa are tied on 28 points so perhaps it is not me that needs to "take another look" as you suggested.  And Fred Alonso has shown no great talent for car set up based on his results this year and the fact that his inexperienced former team mate is way ahead of him - though Fred was quite adept at stealing Ferrari setup data last year, wasn't he.

  9. ferrari has just outclassed them this season thus far, thats why.

  10. He has won this year.

He won the first race of the season.

That was the only time he had a quicker car than the Ferraris and he made it count.

He's doing fine, his performance in Turkey last Sunday was excellent.

Last year he had a quicker car which helped him a lot being as inexperienced as he was, this year the Ferrari is quicker and there's a lot more pressure trying to reach the top step of the podium, he's adapting to the new situation and he's already a better driver than he was last year.

As far as traction control is concerned none of the F1 drivers is having a problem adapting to it, it helps but they don't need it to stay on the track or go fast.

Lack of traction control helps differentiate drivers and the better ones will benefit from that.

Hamilton is one of the better ones.
