Question:

What's wrong with IVF and donor eggs and sperm?????

I cannot have babies normally by any other means and I would like to use IVF with donor eggs and sperm {Im single so that's why I need the donor sperm also}.

Everyone seems to think this is a crazy idea

I DONT KNOW WHY THEY DO!!!!!!!

they keep telling me to adopt

but I've tried numerous agencies, states and even countries

but because of my past medical issues there are strict guidelines on who can and cannot adopt

I can't delve into personal details but I cannot.

I've tried and tried and NO place will let me adopt even though I'm not a psycho danger to anyone.....it's just that certain diagnosed illnesses prevent agencies from lettng you adopt.

So why can't I used donor eggs and sperm??? why does everyone think it's crazy???

and also: I want to use different races to create a multiethnic family just like the one I grew up in.

why do people also think it would be crazy to use another race? is there a law stating that only black people can use black donors!?!???

why can't I create a multiracial family like the family I grew up in???

Please someone give me some input here!

all I want is to start a good wholesome family just like everyone else :-(

  1. If you have the means to afford it and support a baby, then I don't think it's crazy at all.

  2. There is nothing wrong with you! The people who tell you that it is crazy are wrong. And good for you, going beyond the ethnicity issues many people from the last century have! Multi-ethnic babies are cuter and smarter anyway... I come from Europe and the ethnicity issues are not that big of a deal. Do you have a sperm donor? There are some good sperm banks where you can get the sperm shipped directly to your doctor's office. Fertility Center of California is one of them (http://spermbankcalifornia.com). Good luck and more power to you!

  3. What's crazy is thinking you can have a "family" when you are not married.

Adoption is natural, but most agencies won't allow single people to adopt...and for good reason. We are meant to have a mother and a father. If you have been rejected as an adopting parent, you may want to really have a good hard look as to why.

IVF has helped a lot of people, but when you boil it down, especially using the eggs and sperm of strangers, it is unnatural.

Would you think someone who is single, who wants to get a strange white woman's egg, mix it with a strange black person's sperm, combine them in a petri dish and inject it into yourself, when they have been rejected at adoption agencies is strange?

Think of the kids and how confused they will be.

  4. Have you looked into adopting embryos rather then having to get both donor eggs & sperm? That is also an option. I don't think what you're wanting is crazy at all!

The 1st couple I carried for as a surrogate couldn't adopt either, the were told by man places they were too young and her history of having cancer before so they went the surrogacy route

I think you should do what is best for you, whichever way that may be.

    Good luck!!

  5. I've gotta say I'm very curious what medical issues could prevent you from adopting??? But, anyway, I think it's a beautiful thing to bring any child into the world. And the joy of pregnancy and giving birth is amazing. So, I understand where you are coming from. You do what makes you happy! You can listen to everyone else's opinions, and just say, "hey, this is what I want, and this is what makes me happy" All races are beautiful... Be confident in your decision, and proud. Don't let ANYONE rain on your parade! Good luck sweety!

  6. I think as long as your doctor agrees that you are physically healthy enough to do it, go for it. There isn't anything out there stating that you cant have a multi-ethnic child through IVF. I think a lot of people are just afraid to do something such as having a multi-racial/ethnic family.Just make sure you do everything to make sure you are healthy. IVF can cost a lot of money, and the healthier you are, the higher the success rate.
