Question:

What's wrong with my Blackberry Curve?

During conversations, my Curve will turn off, and reboot itself for no reason; it turns off, the screen goes blank, my LED light flashes red, and then the white screen with the hourglass appears. The hourglass normally appears for about a minute, but sometimes lasts only a few seconds. After it goes away, it just goes back to my home screen as if nothing has happened, and the call I was just on, doesn't exist in my call log.

Whats going on with my phone?

Has this happened to anyone else?

And how do I go abouts fixing it?

I'd appreciate any kind of help anyone can give me =). Thanks!

  1. It sounds like your Curve is out of memory. This issue is resolved by deleting some of your apps or deleting some pics/videos/songs.

You can check your memory status by going to Alt + Shift + H

and look at the free file amount.

if the free file number is lower than 1 or 2 million, you have low memory, which will cause symptoms like you described.

Best advice if you want to store pics/mp3s/ringtones/etc on your phone is to buy a memory card and store all of these extras to the memory card.

Its also a good idea to reboot the phone every now and then, by removing the battery for 30 seconds while the phone is on. That will free up memory temporarily.

  2. It happens on many Smart/Pda phones.

Most time your phone will recognize it needs a reboot due to memory or software conflict and will auto reset. or a reset was pending and never done, like software installs or uninstall.

if it happens frequent then you may have a program that is causing the problem. or you phone i low in memory.
