Question:

What's wrong with my DVD?

Okay, so I bought a DVD a week ago, and put it in my DVD player. It was all whacked up, like it didn't have any color and it kept going across the screen (it's hard to explain), but I couldn't watch the DVD because it was so bad. But, other DVDs worked when I tried them out. So, I tried the same DVD out again. It didn't work... again. I then used my friend's DVD player. The DVD worked just fine, it was crystal clear. What's wrong with it?

  1. The standards are so loose for the DVD format that that particular DVD may just not work in your DVD player. Since you checked it on a friend's player there is nothing wrong with the DVD itself. Also since your own player works with other DVDs there is nothing wrong with your player. I have run into incompatibility problems myself and there is not much you can do other than get a different DVD player.

  2. Sounds to me like the DVD is a PAL format DVD. Perhaps your friend has a "Region free" DVD player and you do not?

  3. Maybe you need to get a new dvd..The one you have, might be a bad copy.
