I have a 2001 Ford Ranger 4 cyl automatic

but I am having a problem with it and I've already spent over 300.00 on it

trying to get it fixed..Ok here is what is does

Sometimes it shifts so hard the whole truck jerks, will almost

give you whiplash..yes that hard

then at times it won't shift down when you stop,I would really

like get it to stop because it's a good truck.

I would Appreciate anything that anyone could tell me to try

so I can get it stop this..

Thanks !

  1.   Cut the cat converters off and scrap that pile of s$$t

  2. the most common thing i would check is your ujoints, and get the bushing replaced if it has one,any tranny shop would check it out 4 free but always call around first and check 4 a reputable shop,a regular shop can do the work also

  3. Check your transmission fluid level. Low fluid level will cause the trans to slip and then instantly shift when least expected. Start with the simple things(like checking the fluid level) before dropping money into it. Remember, check the level with the truck fully warmed & the trans in neutral. If the level is fine, you might have very dirty fluid and or filter. I believe your truck's tranny is computer controlled, so other electronic issues might be present if the fluid & filter are fine.
