What's wrong with my PSP?

I have a PSP (Darth Vadar) 2001 version

i had just bought a new battery and let it charge for about half an hour and when i turned it on, the green light flashed and just cut off 5 sec. later...

This has been happening after i got custom firmware. The ac adapter does the same thing if i try to turn it on without a battery and i don't know what to do. And it's not my PSP (my cousins) and he's getting it back in August so i have to do something soon
