Question:

What's wrong with my bunny?

I just got an 11-week-old pet bunny, a female miniature rex. Just recently, it seems like she has been having spasms every once in awhile in her cage. One moment she'll be fine, and then she'll be wildly jumping around in her cage. It almost seems like she doesn't have control of her back legs when this happens. Does anyone know what is wrong with her, and what I should do to help her?

  1. I think she is bored. Maybe it just wants to come out.. or bring it to a vet?

  2. When in doubt take to the vet. Plus it sounds like getting her fixed is right around the corner!

To me it sounds like she is hyper and wants to run around. She is trying to happy jump.

You might want to try litterbox training her and getting her an x-pen set up: http://www.sandiegorabbits.org/adoption/...

Good luck with your new rabbit!

  3. Hi i used to breed dawrf lop rabbits..

don't worry its normal my bunnys do it all the time

one minute there just laying around the next there running around and jumping in there cage.

its quite funny to watch actually...

    because there so energetic

don't worry about it shes just having fun

maybe she needs abit more room to run around..

  4. It's nothing to worry about.

    She's just having fun.

  5. Your rabbit may want to get out of his or her cage for some exercise i had a rabbit that did that and i took him out of his cage and let him run the house for about an hour a day and he seems more satisfied.

  6. It's nothing wrong, it sounds like she's doing binkies, a sign of happiness.

It's only spasms if she's lying on the floor, not actively running around her space.

  7. Go to www.youtube.com search for binkies

Does that look like what its doing? If not go to a vet.

A binky is a sign of happiness! Like dogs wag tails humans smile and laugh!

  8. When i got my bunny rabbit i put her outside and she used to jump around wildly, but that was only because she was happy. Young rabbits tend to get more excitable, so they would jump around quite frequently, but... just to be on the safe side i would suggest contacting your local veterinarian just to be sure.
