  1. Depends on how long the coughing and stomach convulsing goes on. If it continues over a long period of time then there could be a problem but if he does it for a few minutes and stops and seems okay then it's normal. He is trying to cough up a furball but cats aren't always successful at it. Give him some cod liver oil. That usually helps.

  2. get to the vets. i do get fed up with people who try to diagnose there pets problems instead of going to the vets

  3. It could be nothing. If he has been doing it for hours or something then get him checked out, if it has been happening for a couple of minutes he should be fine (just after effects). If it has been happening for a long time you need to get him to the vet ASAP as it could be something really serious.

  4. obviously SOMETHING is wrong with the poor animal! Whats your excuse for not taking him to the vet to get checked out? Laziness? Or you just dont care?

  5. sometimes even if he cant hack up the furball (which they sometimes cant) afterward his stomach may still be heaving from the attempts...give him some petroleum jelly, mineral oil, or some other type of oil and that will help push the hairball through his gut so he'll c**p it out or make him chuck it up, after he hacks it up try to brush him regularly so they wont return as bad...its prob not serious if it just last a few minutes after he tries to hack it up but if it last a long time then its best to see the vet

  6. Depending on how old you cat is, this could be quite serious, if he is a kitten or old it would be particularly dangerous. the best thing to do is call a vet or an after hours clinic asap if it is happening all the time, a lot of vets are really helpful and lovely on the phone and will offer advice, maybe he has swallowed some poison if he goes out side or is allergic to something in your home? its definatly best to get him checked out because its best to have him happy and healthy and its not worth your risk
