Question:

What's wrong with my contacts?

I have a few questions. I just bought some contacts from walmart vision center. Im not sure if its a product from 1800- contacts or not. I bought Freshlook colorblends. color- brown / I have 20/20 vision. But every time I seem to put the contacts in, I dont see as clearly as I should. With them on every thing seems to look slightly smokey. and since I got the eye exam & was trying the contacts, one of my eyes have been giving me a little bit of a problem. On and off my right eye sees smokey looking/ not seeing clearly. What do you think the problem is? I s it my eye or is it the contacts? or Do the contacts suppose to be that way? Should I discontinue using the contacts?

Thanks for your help

Toni

  1. Hi Toni,

1800-contacts is just a distributor of contacts, Freshlook colorblends are made by Ciba (my ciba reps works very hard, she's the best rep in Seattle and she deserves a shout out, sorry!).

The reason most people complain about colored contacts is because the color on the contact is one size. Your pupil dilate and constrict (get bigger and smaller) depending on the light. So, you are wearing your contacts outside, it's a sunny day, your pupil will constrict (get smaller) and the color on the lens doesn't get into your vision. Then you walk in to a movie theater and sit down, your pupil dilates (gets bigger) to allow more light to come into it so you can see better, well, the color on the lens doesn't adjust and now your pupil is bigger than the clear hole in the center of your contact and your looking through a little bit of the color of the lens. It's going to seen a little blurry or smokey looking.

If your in a well lit situation, that's not your problem, try taking out your lens and cleaning and pop it back in.

If that doesn't work, try a new lens and see if that fixes it (don't throw away that lens yet, put in your case, just in case!). Even though Ciba is a great manufacturer, (another shout out to Patty Ann) every time you mass produce something, there are bound to be a couple of defectives.

Hope this helps and you know how to get a hold of me if you need anything!

    ~Robin
