Question:

What's wrong with my digital camera?

I have an Olympus FE-220 digital camera. It uses a lithium battery. The other day, it said my battery was almost dead, so I charged it overnight. But when I checked it in the morning, it still said it was dead. I put it back in the charger and usually the little red light on the charger should stay lit when it's charging, but it was blinking instead.

I just got my camera a couple months ago, so it's not old at all and I can't afford a new one. I don't think I've dropped it or got it wet. What do you think is wrong? Do I need to replace my battery or the battery charger? If so, where can I get them?

Please help.

Thanks.

  1. Olympus toll free number for technical support with digital cameras is;

    1-888-553-4448

    Mon-Fri 8am-10pm E

    You might also try a different wall socket check both  the end at the charger and the wall.

    look closely at the battery terminals and the charger terminal for dirt or corrosion ask Olympus for cleaning instruction.

    Find the receipt it is only two or three month old is most likely covered under warranty.

  2. This may sound like an obvious answer, but you wouldn't believe that some people don't think about this.  Try a different outlet.  Try several different outlets.  Maybe you had it plugged into a switched outlet (as for table lamps) and the switch was off.  The reason I say this is that it sounds really odd that the charger won't charge when it's only a few months old.  But if it's not the outlet, take it to the place that sold you the camera.  If you have the receipt, take it with you so they know how old it is.  If it's a product defect, they may just give you a new charger and send the old one back to the manufacturer.  It depends on the dealer you bought it from.  Good luck.

  3. The best thing you can do is take the battery and the charger into a place like Radioshack or Best Buy and have them test it out. They may not be able to test the battery itself but they can test the charger and see if its working properly.

    Although my though would be to just replace the battery. Even rechargable batterys are only good for so long and so many charges.

    Good Luck Hope this helped!
