  1. sounds like he had a seizure. The vet can give medication for this and from what I have seen, a dog can live comfortably for another few years...more or less.

maybe your mom can't handle the expense right now...

if you call the vet, tell them what's going on with your dog, and if they can give you info suggesting that your pooch can live a good while with meds,  maybe you mom will agree to take it in.

  2. the vet cant put your dog to sleep without your permission. thats silly

  3. Your vet will NOT just say he is old and put him to sleep. Your vet will explore every option possible to save your animal. Please take him to the vet.

  4. a good vet will not say he's old put him to sleep, they will do a full check up on him and decide the best course of action so the proper answer is to get him to a vet.

  5. The only option is to take him to the vet. Better to know what is going on than to let your dog suffer. It could quite possibly be congestive heart failure or heartworm and many other things too. It maybe nothing at all. There is no point in speculating.  Your dog is old yes, but depending on his breed with medical attention he may have some quality time left.

Please try to talk to your mom again. Good luck!

  6. You need to take him to the vet.  It could be something simple that the vet can fix without putting him down.  If the vet does tell you it's just because he's old.  So be it.  You don't have to have him put down though I would suggest it if he's in a lot of pain or anything like that.  Don't endanger your dog's health because you're afraid of what the vet might say.  Your dog looks to you to be his champion, his caretaker, his parent.  Take him to the vet.

  7. You need to take him to the vet. If it's just because he's old that doesn't mean it'll be suggested that you have him put down. It could be anything and there are so many different kinds of medications. If he is suffering and in pain though, you shouldn't make him suffer any longer. Good luck.

  8. im sure because of his age. poor thing. it looks like he had a dog stroke

  9. Take him to your vet. If he is in pain it is only humane to put him down. He seems very old, and it would not be kind on him to leave him in pain.

  10. call your vet! the vet won't tell you that your dog is old and you should put him to sleep. it could be anything!

  11. He's very old, that's the typical age a dog lives to,

but don't be sad! If he's lived a happy life, and you've treated him great, you've done all you can, and more! And as an extra duty to your dog, if you decide to put him out of his misery, hold him while he is being 'put to sleep', that way he will leave in the arms of someone who loves him, and who he is familiar with!

    =]

    Much luck!

  12. take him to the vet it could be an allergic reaction or it could have been a serizure of somesort

they wont put him to sleep because of his age

and if it is allergies or even seizures - medication can help him

  13. to the vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  14. Well, unlike humans, a lifespan for a dog is about 15 years. I'm sorry. Don't worry though he will just go to sleep and won't be in pain.

  15. Your dog probably had a stroke. It seems to be getting common in dogs over 12-13 years old. Our dog had a stroke, was fine for a day, had another stroke & could not move for 3 days, then finally passed away. My friends dog had a stroke last week & has been fine ever since. It all depends on the dog, but your family should prepare to lose him as 14 is quite old. Still, call your vet anyway, you dont have to put your pet down, as with a stroke, if you choose they can stay at home with you to be comforted for their last days. It is very sad & I am so sorry for your family to be facing this.

  16. He probably has some kind of allergic reaction, tell your mom that just killing a dog because it did something weird isn't right and you SHOULD take him to the vet.

  17. UH, call the vet. It could be something mild that medicine could fix or something big, but either way, sounds like he definitely needs to be looked at. Don't avoid taking him to the vet just because you think you know what the vet will say. That's irresponsible and naive, sorry. So, take him in or call the vet about it.. Please?  :)

  18. he is old dogs don't usually last that long

  19. You should take him to the vet ASAP.

  20. you do realize that your dog is 98 years old in dog years i say hes dying so spend waht few minutes you have with him

  21. It could be right that your dog is just getting old, but I would suggest actually taking your dog to the vet to check him out. It is REALLY NOT neccisary to put your dog to sleep unless he is in a lot of pain. Meanwhile enjoy your dog as much as you can. It sounds like your dog has lived a good long life. Although he may not be put to sleep, his life may be coming to an end. Good luck
