Now Im going to start with the whole history so I can really find out whats goin on w/ my lil pup. I got a yorkie mix in 2003 at the time i also had a 14 year old scottish terrior... in august 2006 the scottish terrior died... in november we got another puppy a maltese, to have as a friend for the yorkie mix. in two weeks the yorkie was put in the hospital for pancreatitis... she did recover and was fine medically. In January she ran ot of our house and ran to another dog being walked she barked but didnt go to bite or anything, but the owner of the other dog kicked her and she ended up breaking two ribs. ( we could not sue because she ran off our property) We noticed after all this happened she wasnt herself and hasnt returned to herself. She is unfriendly to people other dogs our other dog (ok with us), but she doesnt bite. and when you pet her she doesnt growel but moan. We dont know what it came from because a lot of tough things came at once for her... but we really want to get her hep. Please does anyone know what to do?? thanks

  1. Well if it were my dog, I would go to the vet to make sure that she doesn't have any issues from the kick that you may not realize.  I would do what I could to reassure her, but I wouldn't force her around other people.  If I had house guess, I would tell them to ignore her and let her come to them at her own pace, and when she tried to check them out, still leave her alone and give her time, and then try and pet her.  I would imagine that all she has been through, she has earned her right to pout.

  2. If someone kicked her hard enough to break her ribs, she isn't going to like people. Maybe the ribs didn't heal properly? Could be a lot of things. The vet should be able to give you a better idea.

  3. maybe shes unhappy and needs some fuss or maybe you could change her food brand, but it might be something serious so i would have her checked over by a vet firstly because you want to do whats best for your pet.

:) hope you do whats best,

for your pet and your other one and you?

    good luck :)

tell me how you get on please !!! add me as a friend and mail me and tell me how you got on!!

  4. Yes, take her to the vet! She could have internal injuries. I am assuming that you took he after the person kicked her, otherwise you wouldn't know that she had broken two ribs. I would take her back and ask the vet for further evaluation.

  5. i hate to say but it think you may need to take her to the vet, he can find out what is going on and give you some professional advice. but sounds like she may be scared and shy thinking she is getting jumped again. as for the person that kicked her, i would go to their ***. no one mistreats my dogs and gets away with it even if they wasn't at fault
