What's wrong with my family (long question be prepared to read)

Here's the deal, I've gotten into a little trouble with the police in my time, mostly because I have been a stupid teen and my town takes any bit of crime all too seriously. Now with my experience with the law I know how my town's police force works and my family does not. My entire family save my dad seems to believe the police force has our house and our cars pegged when I personally have had experience with cops who have had no idea about either. The thing is I know my family is absolutely wrong and as a result Ive somehow become the jerk;I try to tell them that cops drive down our street because its their routine and pull us over because were breaking traffic laws but they won't listen.Tonight they tried telling me someone who parked on my street got a parking ticket for this reason. My question is am I just oblivious or is my family crazy, what can I do to not look like the little brat and convince them to grow up?

You know and we know who needs to grow up. The reason the police are cruising your street is the very reason your parents are talking about. The police want to keep you from doing your dumb *** crimes and or they want to catch you in the act. Give your parents a break and grow up. People do take crime serious, that's why we have laws. If you paid attention in school you'd understand what this is about. If you want to have fun that's one thing, but to go out , commit a crime for kicks is just plain stupid. Your criminal record is going to follow you for a long time. If you think it go's away when you turn 18, your in for a big surprise. Someday you'll get bored at doing small crimes and then here comes the big crime you've been waiting for. Guess what, then comes the big time to go with it wether you like it or not. I don't blame your parents one bit and if I were them, you'd be out the door on your own in a hurry. Take a look in the mirror and tell yourself this is the person my parents raised. I should be proud of the crimes I commit and the people I hurt because it's fun. If you believe what you say, your dumber than you think.

Eventually they will realize that they are being paranoid and knock it off. If they don't, at least one of you has some sense. In the mean time, ignore the comments and don't even try to convince them. It will only cause you more heartache.  Just smile and say something like, "yeah, I know." and walk away.
