My phone has rung three times now and every time I pick up, there's no response. All I hear is a single 'beep' and that's about it. What's wrong with my home phone?

  1. we need to know some information to trouble shoot:

are you able to call out?

are you able to receive calls?

is this happening on all incoming calls?

    or from a particular number?

kindly unplug your telephone set and plug another set to see if the problem is on the line or on the set ,

if it works fine then its a problem on the set but if you still have the same problem then it could be either on your line or some one is trying to fax you .

for both these cases you can contact your service provider.

    is it happen

  2. Somebody thinks your phone is a FAX number, and is trying to send something.

Next time, if it happens, try shouting into the receiver, "Hello!  Hello!  This is not a FAX!"  as some FAX machines have speakers, and the person on the other end might get a clue.

If you suspect your phone might actually have a problem, call a friend, and ask them to call you back.

  3. Sounds like you are receiving a call from a Fax machine.

They probably don't realize they are dialling your number by mistake.  That has happened to me many times in the past (receiving mis-dialled calls from Fax machines, that is).
