Question:

What's wrong with my hot tub?

i have a hot springs grandee hot tub i think its a 98- 2000 model (not sure) i set hot tub to 104 but water only gets to about 98. if i go above 104 the screen shows weird graphics(cause your not supposed to go over 104) but if i do water will get up to 101.

-my filters are 1 yr old, and are clean,

what could be the problem?

please help

  1. Your heating element most likely has a build-up of mineral deposits on it, making it difficult to reach the temperature you set.  A chemical treatment is available to remove the deposits.  Check with the dealer.


  2. The first thing you need to do is replace it's temp sensor probe.  That should fix the issue.  Depending on what style of control your unit has it maybe very expensive if it's not electronic.  Personally I have taken 2 Grandees and taken out all of the HotSprings equipment and replaced it with a Balboa VS510 spa pack that comes with a new heater, electronic topside controls and spa pack.  It is now much more efficient, and cheaper to work on when things need to be replaced.
