My 3 1/2 month old female kitten is not eating properly. She eats in small amounts & then sleeps for hours on end. Is this normal?

  1. yeah, cats are notoriously lazy, and they sleep much more when they're kittens because they grow when they sleep

  2. It's normal for cats to sleep a lot (that is what they do best, LOL!). But is she playful in between naps? If not, she may not be feeling well and a trip to the vet may be warranted.

As for eating, they eat when hungry usually. I have one that eats many times a day, and another that only eats a bit a few times a day. It's all up to the cat.

Keep an eye on her. If she's not playful and responsive between naps, something is up.

  3. Kittens do have small stomachs and to humans the amount of food they eat may seem small.  But if you are if you are concerned about her eating habits she should see a vet.  This is also a good time to make sure that she has had all her inoculations and schedule a visit to have her neutered.

    Good Luck!

  4. Kittens have small stomachs and need to eat small meals often.  They also need sleep as their bodies are growing and that uses up energy.  Bored cats also sleep a great deal.  Does she behave normally when she's awake or is she lethargic?  Is she using the litter tray normally or does she have diarrhoea?  Does she have any discharge from her eyes or nose or wheezy breathing?  Does she suddenly get tired while playing?

If she has other symptoms, she needs to have a vet checkup to rule out illness or other conditions (e.g. heart condition, metabolic condition).

As cats are most active around dusk and dawn, is it possible she's awake and active when you're not there to observe her?

  5. take it to the vet, there is a possibility it has a birth defect.

    Better safe than sorry.

  6. my kitten is like this to its just because their stomach is so small, also just like babies kittens like lots of sleep so they can grow... nothing to be worried about.

  7. No,maybe she is sick.

  8. Kittens eat little and often and they do sleep alot as they are still doing alot of growing at that age!

Offer your kitten small meals every 3 - 4 hours.

If you are really concerned give your vet a call and he can advise you

  9. Yeh its fine, cats are nocturnal animals and sleep for the majority of the day. I wouldnt worry about her, but if shes not being playful and doing any activities maybe get her checked if you're worried.

But remember it costs a LOT of money jus to have a vet say 'you're cats jus lazy'!!

  10. I don't think there is anything wrong with your little girl, cats' are funny creatures and do their own thing. When I first got my little girl she nibbled for a year straight and then decided she only wanted to eat biscuits and now 2 years later she is still nibbling at those but she does eat. Just watch that she is eating & how much if you are really concerned take her to the vets

  11. Normal behaviour.  Dont forget shes only a baby.

  12. shes really horny you need to get another cat sorry

  13. A KITTENS JOB IS TO EAT, SLEEP AND TEAR THROUGH THE HOUSE.

I AM CONCERNED ABOUT HER ENERGY LEVEL. IF SHE IS LATHARGIC, THEN I WOULD SAY YOU HAVE SOME PROBLEMS.

A VET NEEDS TO SEE HER IMMEDIATELY.
