What's wrong with my lionhead?

One of my lionhead goldfish has been bloated and the scales have been sticking out for about 3 weeks. He has been swimming upside down a little too, but now he has wedged himself in a plant at the bottom of the tank and hasn't moved for 2 days. He is still alive because he wiggles around, but he won't come out to eat. Does anyone know what is wrong w/him and how I can fix this??? Thanks!!

  1. Try going to kokosgoldfish.com and going to the forums.  They have a 911 and emergency section with lots of experienced people.

  2. are the scales sticking out like pine cones???

    something like this

    http://www.kokosgoldfish.com/Dropsy.html

then its Dropsy...if you could confirm..I will EDIT and give some more info..but yeah Mokey is right..by now it might be too late..still worth giving it a try..isolate him in a 10 gallon tank asap...and follow the medication given on the link I pasted..

  3. its time is up

    sry

  4. Sorry, it does sound like dropsy, I've lost 2 fish to that, i thought i'd caught it early and treated with Furan 2, but still lost them. I hope you're able to save your fish

  5. Sounds like dropsy.  At this point it would be pretty much uncurable.

  6. i think it may be indigestion or maybe a parasite (internal or external) if it is a parasite then use medication but do research first and is it is indigestion then i think adding a itsy bitsy tiny bit of Epsom salt works

NOTICE!!!!!----EPSOM SALT is just a theory that i haven't tried yet so if you choose to do this do some major research and ask around either more on this site or at pet stores to see what works. IF you decide not to ask around i suggest separating the lionhead from all other fish...

if you do use Epsom salt please post if it worked
