  1. because u become vunerable because people know you don't know what's going on.

  2. It doesn't matter if you say you're Italian and just visiting Italy.  I am 100% italian.  (I look extremely italian..) and I studied abroad in Florence for a year, spoke Italian, but still the Italians can spot an American from a mile away, and I even look Italian, it's amazing! Wear whatever you want, I studied there all year and wore flip flops-got dirty looks from all of the italian women because italians "don't wear flip flops", then again, when i would be wearing a pashmena pants and a top, even a leather jacket- i would still get dirty looks.  Italian women despise any American woman for the soul reason that the Italian men LOVE American women-no matter what you look like.

  3. It  is to avoid getting pick-pocketed. Tourist are not the only ones who carry backpacks You have to be yourself on vacation. If you want to wear white sneakers, wear them; just as long as they are comfortable.  However, you do not want to be an obvious target for thieves, so  do yourself a favor and blend in a little .

There are gypsy all over the areas you will be traveling Florence, Venice and Rome. Beware of the ladies carrying little babies and young children. They try to distract you, while the other one robs you...and they are quick.

The first time I went to Florence, my friend and I were just walking outside our hotel  and within 10 minutes , he was pick pocketed because he was being distracted by some little boy and he had his wallet where they could see it--He was Italian too. It only takes a second and your things are gone.

Walk with confidence, be aware of your surroundings:on trains, at the station, on the street,  everywhere.

I wouldn't want your vacation to be ruined by a thief. Protect your documents, money, credit cards, passport etc inside a money belr hidden inside your pants.

Do not put any important information in your backpack when you are walking around. Keep them in the money belt. Carry your backpack in the front. Carry your purse across your body  .  Do not put your wallet in your back pocket.  It should go into a pocket in the front  or your shirt pocket with a closure(button /snap ... Do not use those cargo pants pockets they are too easy to slide pass and bump and it is gone.

    Have a great trip

  4. There's nothing wrong with it, but unfortunately tourists are seen here as people from whom salesmen can spill out lots of money!! I work in the historical centre and whenever I go in a bar or restaurant I see tourists paying three times what I paid, for the very same coffee or salad.

  5. There are a few reasons. The main one being that you don't want to stick out so much that you seem like a target for pickpockets and the like. Basically, you don't want to be vulnerable. Further, when in another country, it's important to respect the culture and do your best to "live like they do" so that you can get the most from your experience and also, to make the experience one that doesn't throw off the natives too much. Overall though, it's not a big deal to be a tourist, it's fun!

ENJOY, ITALY IS A FANTASTIC PLACE TO VISIT!

  6. Makes you an easier target for pickpocketers and people pusghing you to buy something.

  7. Tourists are the ones most likely to get pickpocketed.  I know a few people who lost their cameras and other stuff in Italy.  It's pretty safe though in most places if you keep your eyes open and keep aware of your surroundings a little bit -- shouldn't be something to really stress about, in other words.

  8. tack my advise do not say you are America Europeans dislike Americans.say you are Italian and visitor. it happen to me, and i was born in Greece, you have to be face with many unlikeable people
