  1. Don't give her away!  That's not very nice.  Did you get them all spayed recently?  If so, it's probably the scent!  Momma doesn't recognize her babies because they smell like the vet's office and not like they used to.  Give them time to grow close again.  Be patient!

  2. She is telling them to leave her alone and that they are big enough to fend for themselves. She wants them to get on with their own adult lives. I believe it will stop as a leader or alpha order is established.

  3. I'm not sure, but it sounds like your Momma kitten is weaning her babies off of her. She probably doesn't want to be mean to them, but she must if they are to learn to survive without her. This way, the kittens will start taking care of themselves. This is very natural, she's teaching her kittens. Just keep an eye on them.

  4. it happens when the kittens get to an age where they can be on there own the mom will completely disown them i wouldnt give her a way my cats do that none of them get hurt except for maybe a little bite mark if u give them there space they will learn to accept each other

  5. She`s telling them that thy can not drink from her any more.some kittens take a long time to get us to not drinking from the mom cat.Its often for that to happen.

  6. It's a combination of nature and circumstance. Mother cats in the wild generally come into heat every 3-4 months, so the mother cat will begin to force her last litter of kittens away so she can prepare for a new litter. Your cat's instincts don't understand that she has been spayed. Just be patient, let her have some time to teach the kittens that they are not to come to her as momma anymore.

  7. well my cat has had kittens and we kept one from a litter and she is now four and we kept another one from a litter and he is now two. they all get on brilliantly. especially mummy and bailey, they clean each other and share food and they have all been spaded. maybe she wants to be alone with them.

  8. that is normal for ur cat. the mommy cats will hiss at her own kittens if the kitten has already grown enough to survive on it's own in the wild. so, what ur mommy cat is trying to do is, not making the kittens keep getting attached to her. or else they will rely on their mom forever! it's really hard for mommy cats to survive when they are in wild if the kitten is keep attached to her because then there will be more chances of her kitten getting hurt or her own. besides, cats are independent animal and being independent will not change even though, she has her kittens!! i'm thinking it will eventually go away if she find out that the kitten is going to stay here no matter what but i would recommend getting those kittens adopted at that age if she keeps doing that.

  9. she dosnt like you around the kittens she affended

  10. She's probably trying to drive them off to find their new territory.  It's completely normal behavior.

I would just let her be as long as she doesn't hurt them.  Most likely she will settle down after awhile, especially once she figures out that there's enough food for everyone.  She's not being a bad cat or a bad mom, it's just that she did her job and now her instincts tell her that they need to move on.

We found a stray girl and a few days later we caught a kitten who we are positive is her son.  He was probably about 6 months old at the time and we'd been seeing him for about a month before we could catch him.  She was angry.  I already had two adult males and she didn't act like that around them.  She growled a lot when she saw him and always hissed if he got near.  After a few weeks she started playing with him a little and after awhile she became completely fine with having him around.  He's an adult now and bigger than her.  They play rough but it's just playing and they seem to like each other.  Here they are together when he was a bit younger: http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh149...

So I really think your girl will get over it too.  It just takes awhile.  Don't be upset with her.  Give her some extra love so she knows there's no harm in sharing her territory.   Something like Feliway may help calm her too. It's great that they're all fixed, that should help her accept them again faster.  good luck!  I know it's sad to see a mom seem to hate her babies, but it's just natural and once she figures out that there's no harm in sharing things will probably calm down a lot.

  11. Your mom cat is still "hormonal".   In time she will calm down.  In the meantime, plugging in a couple of "Calm Zone" or similar products with Feliway should help.
