Question:

What's wrong with the people in Puerto Rico?

In my 15 years of driving in Florida, I have never gotten into a car accident, yet in just 4 months of driving in Puerto Rico, I have been rear-ended twice (at about 35 mph) while sitting at a red light. Once in San Juan and the other in Ponce. Both times, there happen to be a cop in the lane next to me. Both times, the cop drove off as if nothing happened.

First of all, what's wrong with these people that they can't keep their eyes on the road, and second, what's up with the cops taking our tax dollars without working for them? All I ever hear is how nice these people are, but I've yet to see it.

  1. driving training is non existant, so they learn on the road. everybody passes the driving test the first time, so some drivers should not be on the road.   i just take the train now and walk to Pueblo to get my groceries instead of driving. i only drive to the Paradores when I have time.

  2. hahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..

bienvenidoos a Puerto Rico!!..we are nice..were just a little on the crazy side!...dont worry ..everyone...&& i mean EVERYONE gets into at least a few accidents in pr no matter how good a driver they are..lol

  3. lol who knows whats up w/ the world these days its craazzzy i live in las vegas and kno how ya feel

  4. the people areee nice....weird

    this happens in many places

and i live in puerto rico and that has never happpened to me or anyone i know

    maybe u were just unlucky

  5. Try driving in New York! What's wrong with those people!

I have to admit, Puerto Ricans are very um.... agressive... drivers (You should see the cuts my dad does! *Shivers*) But I guess the island is so small, with so many cars and people, everyone just wants to get going!

Did you ever drive down I-4 in Florida? Same thing..... There is ALWAYS an accident there....

As for the cops.... I've been stranded in Florida quite a few times, in the middle of the night, and NOT ONCE! has a pig been 'able' to help me... Where has MY tax money been going? Pigs are Pigs no matter where they are..... Good for nothing....'To Serve and Protect' yeah, right.... I think the movie "Transformers' got it right. It's more like "To Enslave and Punish".....

Sorry you've had such S****y luck over there.... But really.... Things are bad everywhere.... I think you can notice it more, just because the island is so small!

  6. Haha very true Puerto rico drivers are the worst. I think its ignorance.same thing with the trash problem on the otherwise beautiful island.

  7. Maybe the heat and pollution has got them messed up?  Maybe they were born that way?  Maybe a driver's license there is too easy to come by?  I don't know.  One thing I do know is that things there are pretty corrupt and they don't care much about anything so I'm not surprised to hear that the cops just took off.      Oh yeah...... they do care about Jesus.

    EDIT:

Thumbs me down all you want, but I speak the truth....

My friend's A/C broke down in the middle of summer.  It took the A/C repair man 43 days to show up.  He didn't ring the door bell, he yelled through the window.  After he left, the A/C broke again THE SAME DAY.  It's been another month since in which my friend has made two appointments with the guy who never showed up.  Spend the summer without A/C and see how nice these people are NOT.  Should've paid him with a check instead of cash.  Yes there is something wrong with Puerto Ricans...  Corrupt & careless they are.  I know, it's not "ALL" of them, but the majority there.

  8. I don't know how you are expecting an ultimate or even legitimate answer for your question. That's like asking "what's wrong with people in Florida" (for whatever reason) and seriously expecting an answer.

Anyway, I've lived all my life in Puerto Rico, so I don't know how people drive in other places. I'm used to hearing about  and seeing car accidents almost on a daily basis. It's scary, so I drive with all possible precautions. I'm sure a lot of other people do too.

I can't say much because I'm 20 and I've been driving only for a little more than a year, but I've never had an accident.

There are irresponsible drivers everywhere, and unfortunately you've already met two in PR. Maybe there are more irresponsible drivers here than what you are used to seeing in your area. It's sad, I know.

About the cops who ignored what happened, well, we have some irresponsible cops too. Apparently more than in other places. They usually send a police officer to the scene anyway, so it's stupid of them to just have driven away. Unless of course, they  were in a hurry to go somewhere else (for something very urgent).

So, I'm sorry for your bad experience, but it's really hard to answer "what's wrong with people in Puerto Rico". I'm here, and I don't know the answer to that question, if there is one.

  9. its funny, because i also lived 17 years in Florida and i believe there are more catastrophic auto accidents in colonial and semoran. I use to live in east colonial and i saw all kinds of accidents, also in the interstate. my mom has drove for 35 years and she never had an accident in NY or PR, but we did had one in FL from a careless driver trying to look for her cell phone while driving (she admitted it).

I guess it all depends, but i do agree that here in PR there are so many careless drivers, specially young teens (mostly guys). Its horrible.

  10. i totally agree.. i dont drive but when im in my autns car ppl here drive like savages we almost got killed by this truck coming at us while we were parking... they cut out of nowhere that **** pisses me off it seems like no one has patience here

  11. lol welcome to Puerto Rico girl...although i had my license 4 years ago(i was 16) and no accidents at this moment....

you will see the most unbelievable things(especially with the cops and politicians) while you're here...

I love my island to death but Im not gonna blame you...

    btw im from Ponce....haha
