What's wrong with this bird?

I am currently on Ocean City, Maryland beach, and there is a seagull that can't seem to fly. It's pretty large, it's white with brown wing patterns, apparently the beak seemed bigger than normal to my mom. It just walks around, I was wondering what is wrong? And what plan of action I should take? (The lifeguard called animal control for 3 days straight, they said to leave it alone but I am worried.)

  1. While living life, we dance with death..

some times we lead, sometimes we follow..

the rhythm changes from time to time..

we move to the solo of bird songs..

then to the symphony's of cosmic orchestra..

but in the final steps of our dance..

it's a waltz of back and forth..

dreading to leave, too tired to stay..

and the spirit lingers only long enough

for stars to light the way..

  2. I would just leave it alone. A lot of times if you mess with birds, they can get the bacteria from you and die.

  3. It could be a young bird, maybe from a different species to the others. Perhaps the parents are around somewhere collecting food to bring to it.

I really wouldn't bother the lifeguards about it.
