ever since we moved we went to a new family doctor. My dad was coughing up blood so my mom brought him there for a check up. My dad told the doctor how he feels. my mom said how about an xray? the doctor said how about this just take the medicine and if it doesnt heal him up before 7 days than i'll send him for an xray. Then my mom's like okay... can you just atleast listen to his heart and stuff if everythings fine? the doctor was like no just take the medicine and he'll be fine. He didn't even check my dad or anything... just jot down a few notes and prescribed him a medicine. What's wrong with this doctor doesn't he seem alittle unprofessional? and do you think my family switch back to the old family doctor?

  1. Yup, it does sound like you need to get a second opinion from another doctor. This current doctor does not sound professional at all.

  2. yea you have to change your doctor. If he didn't even examine your dad, then that is bad. There could be a lot of different reasons why someone coughes up blood, you have to get to the source, he might have something wrong going on internally, or it might just be something minor. But the fact that he just prescribed something automatically makes it seem like he is assuming what the diagnosis is when the diagnosis could be something entirely different but with the same reaction (coughing up blood).

and he didn't seem to have helped your sister either.

Having a good doctor is REALLY important, You have to have confidence in their ability to diagnose you, you don't want somebody laid back, it's your HEALTH.

if you changed from you old doctor it makes me think that he wasn't very good either, so why don't you try to look for another new doctor instead or resorting to your old one?

  3. Well, I for one would certainly change Dr a.s.a.p.  Any Dr who is confronted with a patient coughing up blood should do a thorough check up.  My husband, went to a new Dr for an ear blockage.  Dr. stripped him off, did a thorough going over, found a melanoma on his back, and according to the skin specialist saved his life.   This is what a Dr should do, especially if a new patient.  A thorough check.  Unfortunately, they are overworked, and have too many patients to get through, with the result many errors are made.  Please find someone else, and have your dad checked a.s.a.p.

  4. You should not have confidence in a doctor who does not examine you all over, but certainly listerning to your heart and lungs are the very minimum you should expect from a doctor.

    You should switch.
