Question:

What's you favorite vegetable?

I'm trying to cut down on fat and live a healthier lifestyle, and in so doing heard that vegetables are essentially "free food" - meaning they have very little calories while at the same time serving as great sources of vitamins and fiber, and are very effective in filling you up. I ask this question to see what others enjoy the most, so that I can get some ideas for the supermarket. Thanks!

  4. I love all veggies! Get a variaty of color! THey say the more color the healthier the combo will be! Get the bright veggies, the lefy green ones, and some other intresting colors!

  5. any kind of pepper. Bell peppers, hot peppers, jalapenos, chili peppers, serrano peppers, banana peppers, any kind!

  7. Since you are starting out I would stick with the familiar stuff. My favorites cucumbers and tomatoes. No way you can mess it up. Try English cucumbers (seedless) and tomato slices with a hint of lemon/lime and salt. Nothing beats this combo in the summer.

    Loaded with antioxidants and it is flavorful.. YUMMY!!!!!!!

    My favorite vegetables are potato, pea, carrot, corn, beets, mushroom, artichoke, cauliflower, green beans, asparagus, sweet potato, squash, bell peppers, lettuce, spinach, mushrooms (fungi), zuchinni, red onion, white onion, sweet corn.

    they whiten your teeth while eating them and they fill you up entirely, what i do is i go to the store and buy the big bags of mini carrots, the kind that look like they have just been washed like there is water on them, cuz the dry ones suck and then i get the ranch dip that is totally healthy and i dip the carrots in it. YUMMY!! then i drink water with it, it fills you up like a balloon!

  16. My favorite is broccoli. But there are some other good veggies out there--common and unusual. Just shop around and see what looks good. Make some stir fry or veggie kabobs.

  18. I just loooove spinach, broccoli, mushrooms and zuchinni. yum yum they're so tasty.

    My fave is grilled veggie combo:

    Grilled eggplant, zucchini, mushroom, tomato and onion, With olive oil, mixed herbs, coriander, watercress and spinach. Pinch of salt and cracked black pepper. served with Lebanese bread. I could eat it every night. Low cal really healthy & very tastey.

  19. I could eat fresh steamed broccolli every day. With a little butter and salt. Sometimes with a fun shaped pasta, make it into a broccolli and cheese soup. (I don't know if you are vegan or veg. but if thats the case I know they mak substitutes to accomodate you) But you can do alo of different things with broccolli.

  21. Well, all vege's are my favorite.  Beets being the least favorite.  String beans are the most versatile I think. You can do so much with them.  Try 2-3 new varieties of veges a week.  Go onto recipezaar for great recipes.  Your world will open up so much!

       And also carbohydrate may turn into fat instead of converting into energy.so avoid too much carbohydrate also.

    mango - iron ;

    apple - all vitamins and minerals

    grapes - citrus , which is an antioxidant ,keeps u young

    jack fruit - fibre ;

    banana - all minerals

    banana's stem - high fibre

    carrot , beetroot - all fat soluble vitamins

    spinach - iron

    beans - proteins

    brinjal ,onions - nothing but only taste but also reduce fats

    All pulses - proteins

    rice - carbohydrates

    ghee - fat ,which is good and should be added everyday a teaspoon

    coconut - cholesterol should be avoided and  taken once in a month

    All milk products are good 4 health but should be taken in a small amount everyday

    low fat milk - high proteins

    Fibre is the main ingredient for reducing fat . No need to work out at all if u r taking large amount of fibre and proteins a day. U can have lighter meals 6 times a day instead of having 2 or 3 heavy meals a day.
