Question:

What's your approach to handling magazine clutter in the house?

I only have a few magazine subscriptions but I really like most of the magazines I subscribe to and have a hard time throwing a few of them out. But at the same time, I know it's not practical nor useful to save every magazine - I'm pretty good at throwing out the ones I know I'll never read again. But what do you do about magazines like Better Homes and Gardens or Real Simple that have lots of great everyday recipes and tips that you want to save?

Do you have an approach or technique to managing magazine clippings or magazine clutter in the house so it doesn't become overwhelming?

  1. omg everyone here is so organised, i have over 200 hair magazines shoved under my bed :s

i'm going to use these tips too, good ideas, and good question!!

  2. That has been my dilemma lately too. My 4-layer book rack is about to give up with my mags so I did scan each mag, tear of page I wanted to keep, slipped them in clear sleeves (bought a 500 pack one at a flea market for 75 cents) and filed everything in a 3 ring binder.

  3. I do several things to store what I want from magazines.

    1) I use sevaral 3 ring notebooks with different subjects on the cover and I have plastic slip covers for those articles that are several pages that I want to be able to refer to. I take out the pages and put them in the slip covers. This works great for shopping for a remodeling job to go to the store to get the right stuff. The pictures are there and the lists of products used. This can be translated to all categories and subjects from crafts to food.

    2) I use a scanner or my camera to take images of recipes and craft projects that I do not need to take with me to another location and can paste them into Word Documents and burn them to a CDRW or a DVDRW.

    3) I still want to hang onto magazines that have value to me such as memorials of people who meant something to me or the McCaughy septuplets and other special covers. These I do keep and hold onto.

  4. i read celebrity and fashion magazines

  5. either sell them or make collages out of them.
