What's your babysitter horror story?

Question

I'm doing a bit of research on what I should look for in a babysitter for the occasional night. I'd like some stories and opinions of what I should look for or watch out for. Thanks.

I love kids and i have baby sat since I was 11 years old, I babysat this little boy who was an only child and he was a prick, that kid would throw stuff at me and hit me and try to beat me up and make me watch really stupid cartoons lol. He was such a bad kid that his mom would give me a $50 bonus each week, just because she couldn't get anyone else to watch him, if you could find someone like me who needed the money and loved kids you will be fine, I think any person will do good as long as they were treated right, I wouldn't have stayed watching him, but I did because she paid me like a $100 a week to watch him

NEVER take your eyes off those kids!! lol. Once I had the two year old I sat for outside playing. I turned around for just a second and when I looked back, only his feet were sticking straight up out of the ground. He had fallen head first into the empty hole left by a removed electricity pole. He wasn't hurt, just surprised. It was hilarious, but horrible at the same time.

Oh, and beware of the parents who go out for a couple hours and then call thirty minutes before they are supposed to get home and say it will be another hour...then another hour...then another hour...Then come home drunk and forget to pay you for all the extra hours you had to stay!

make sure they have a criminal records check or willing to get one. I would ask them to come and play with your child while you are in the home the first time to see how they get along.

go with your gut feeling because anyone can put on a good show with your child while your watching also if the child is old enough ask their opinion as children are pretty good judges of character, they dont only have to like the child they have to like you as well because if they dont theres a chance they could take it out on your child.lots of people have gone against their gut feeling because they watched the sitter interact with the child.i had one that interacted great with the child until we were gone and then she made her stay in a room watching tv while she was on the computer all night talking to her friends

Recent work experience, references, and a credit and criminal background check.  Once hired ... Nanny Cam!
