  1. be aggressive.

  2. Play position poker.

    Be aggressive.

Don't push all in when a 3x big blind raise will give you the same information.

  3. Play nut hands, always be consistent when you bet while you are bluffing, and never look at your cards until its your turn!

  4. Become one with your hand.

  5. Youve got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away , know when to run, you never count your money when your sitting at the table, ther'll be plenty time for counting, when the dealings done

  6. Play within your bankroll, and abilities.

Good players go broke because they play above their bankrolls. It's like Daniel Negreanu said to Mike Matusow on HSP asfter he was bragging about how good he is, "You can go on and on about how good you are, Mike, but you forgot one thing. You gotta have money to play, son."

  7. well i was told this a long time ago and really didnt take it very seriously at the time but the most important one thing in poker i would say is patience.  Dont play too many hands but the ones you do play u have to play them strong.  Youll learn

  8. Don't bet too much money in case you lose!

  9. Study your opponents and find their "tell".  A sign that let's you know if they're bluffing or have the hand.

  10. Know the value of your hand in relation to the range of hands your opponent(s) has.

  11. Practice your poker face :)

  12. Watch the poker lessons at Doyles Room:

  13. If you are not sure, fold. It doesn't matter if you think you might win, because you probably won't. And even if you would have won, it doesn't matter. Don't be greedy so you can fight another day. It is the worst thing to fold, but if you wait until you have a good hand, then do it. It is the only way to win. Don't be scared to fold if you have a handfull of pants-play to win. And you will.

  14. you have to have a very good luck. aside from your poker skills you really need to be lucky. i've played lots of poker games and boy lots of games are won/lost by just pure luck

  15. You must understand the relative value of your starting hand.

For example, if you are in first or even early position, A 9 suited or 8 8  is not a great hand. If you are in very late position or on the button and no one has called or raised, they become much better hands.

If you are at a tight table, these hands have value, at a loose table they have less value because you may get too many callers, increasing the chances of an outdraw.

In Texas Holdem poker, it is how you play the marginal hands that partly determines whether you win or not.

There is a system to evaluate your starting hand called the Texas Holdem Dynamic Point Count Super Strategy. It takes into consideration the actual hand value, your position, the type of table, (loose or tight), and the betting prior to your turn.

  16. Think before acting!

If you can do that consistently, then you are already on your way down the straight and narrow poker path!

  17. Study your opponents.

Study them hard, you may notice they may take a brief moment or something of the sort when they get a bad hand.

Also don't over bet with money unless you are almost positive you can win, such as a Royal Flush or A straight Flush even a 4 of a kind. And even at that don't place to much unless you are absolutely sure you can win. I lost a few hands with 4 of a kind Aces and Straight flushes too.

And most importantly don't stress out to much if you get a bad or good hand. Try to remain as emotionless as possible.

  18. Always think about what the other person may have.

  19. Don't fall in love with your hand. You may get dealt AA but on the turn if there are 4 spades out there and you ain't got one or there is a straight out there you gotta fold as your pair now means nothing.

I've seen many people lose money like this as they just get mesmerised by their aces.

  20. Don't EVER sit down at a poker table (real or online) if your mind isn't 100% committed to playing flawless poker.

Don't play hungry.  Don't play angry.  Don't play lonely.  Don't play tired (HALT).  If you can't focus on the game then wait until you can.  When you sit down you should be focused like a laser beam, and if you're not you might as well just pull out your stake and set it on fire.  When you're distracted by other things going on in your life than you'll miss something at the table, and everything you miss will cost you money.  Your brain is your biggest weapon at the table, don't leave it at home (or at work, or at your girlfriend's, or at school, etc.).
