  6. American from Hawaii, and I feel lucky, 'coz the local culture here blends just about everything in our own unique way.  Rice is our staple starch, but we usually use medium grain and it has to be "sticky".  Spam musubi is a variation of the Japanese rice ball with seaweed wrapped around it.  Kalua Pig (slow roasted  & cooked in an underground oven) and Cabbage instead of corned beef.  Curries that are more like American stews than Indian curry dishes.  Barbecue sauce that is made from Shoyu (soy sauce), fresh garlic and ginger root, sugar, water and cornstarch.  Portuguese bean soup with Redando's or Purity Hot Portuguese sausage and macaroni.  Chili with Lup Cheong sausage.  I could go on and on.  The Kalua Pig and Cabbage and Beef Curry Stew are two of my personal favorite comfort foods.

  7. Asian-Indonesian

    Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice)

    Gado-Gado (Salad with peanut sauce)

  8. Spanish rice is always good, but it depends what you serve it with... Brown the rice and then add about 2 1/2 cups water, 1 can of tomato sauce, 1 cube of chicken flavored seasonings(Knorr brand), lemon pepper, season salt (Mcormick season all- is best), and salt. Taste as adding spices, as it might become too salty...Boil until rice is tender, if water starts to dry up, add small amounts of water, until cooked. or add water for desired soup like rice...

Lets be honest, Scottish and Welsh cuisine isn't coveted world wide.  I think the whiskey just HAD to be good to handle the food!

I like Mexican, Tex-Mex, Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Indian dishes mostly - go figure.  However, since, I have no genetic ability to handle spice, despite how much I love it, I start sweating when I smell the slightest hint of it.  I'm starting to sweat just thinking about it to be honest.  People sometimes ask me if I'm ok when I eat spicy foods.

On the other hand, I also like beer and Irish whiskey and brats.  I guess I got splashed with something from the gene pool after all.
