In general I want a car that is cheap (I'm talking purchase price AND operating cost) and doesn't use a lot of gas, and doesn't break down all the time.  I'm thinking:

Diesel Jetta (what I have now - 47mpg baby!)

Diesel Golf

Prius

Tesla Bluestar (available 2012, they say)

Th!nk Ox (available in US 2012, and what I'm most likely to buy next)

A subway train (would need to move to a different city to make this be my commuter vehicle.  Planning to do that around 2016)
