Thinking of making my own beer tour...what are your favorite US-made beers? And what type of beer is it (e.g. brown ale, lager)?

  1. My favorite is probably the stone ipa

  2. I really like Dark Horse Crooked Tree India Pale Ale.  Really I just like all IPAs.  I'm also a big fan of most beers made by Rogue, especially the Mocha Porter.

Of course if I'm somewhere with a limited selection my fallback is Sam Adams Boston Lager or maybe a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

    Also anything by Founders.

    EDIT

I also have to agree with Andrew and give props to beeradvocate.com, the best site on earth.

  3. I don't usually drink, but I do like Rolling Rock beer.  It's a pale lager.

  4. Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. It's made in Delaware, though widely available.

To all the haters of American beer: American craft brews make many of the best beers I have ever tried. American macros suck, but craft brews can be exceptional.

  5. Boulevard Wheat

    Sam Adams Cherry Wheat

    Schlafly Hefeweizen

    PBR for pool parties.

  6. American Beer? Gross..

I stick to my Three Wise Men, they treat me well.

  7. Bud Light

  8. budlight, coors light, michalob ultra

  9. Just normal old fashioned Bud.

I also like Miller, Coors and Rolling Rock.

  10. ROOT BEER!

    (HMMMMM)

    (ROOTY FLAVOR)

    (HMMMMM)

  11. Shiner Bock.

  12. Real men drink wine.

  13. The best beer that I have ever tasted

Founder's Breakfast Stout from Founders brewery in Michigan. Good luck finding it unless you are visiting the brewery. Our local craft beer outlet got only two cases last year and put a limit of two bottles per customer.

  19. Best I ever tried while over there was Anchor Steam

  20. Sam Adams makes a decent variety of beers; unfortunately, American beers as a group tend to be lacking.

Blue Moon is good because it's a very close approximation of Maissels Hefe Wiessen (My beer of choice when I was stationed in Germany--Liquid Lunch!).

For cheap beer, I drink Icehouse. (Yes I know...no wisecracks--I like the strength and it makes a good swimming pool for my olives...AKA "A Poor Man's Martini".)

As far as all of the "Name Brand Beers" like bud and michelob and so on? They suck. Watered down tasting and overpriced--more successful in marketing than in flavor--thats why they constantly come up with new gimmicks.

  21. ..........BUD...WEIS....ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...
