What's your favorite board game, and why?

Monopoly....my best friend and I since age 5 used to play it all the time...so ever since then its been my fav game to play with friends (even though it takes HOURS to finish--haha!)

Settler of Catan mos definitely because when you're playing, you're making your own little society and it feels like they all depend on you to take over the island. =)

My favorite one is chess, my second one is scrabble, just like you.

Why? Because I don't like games that rely on luck... chess and scrabble are two of the most "pure" boardgame available. While chess is based on anticipation, logic, tactic... scrabble is all about language's knowledge, imagination, fast thinking, etc..

Settlers of Catan - Cities and Knights

Not because I get a power trip out of it...  Because luck and brains both play a part.

My current favourite is 'Settlers of Catan'. I try and get in a game at least once a week.

Each game is different, you have to change your tactics depending on available resources. With the Seafarers expansion the variety of layout is even more extreme.

Before Catan there was 'Roborally'. Have played this game to death! New version now available from avalon games. This is a fun game and requires a bit of thought, especially if the program cards you get are nothing like what you want!
