What's your favorite country to play in the game Diplomacy?

I like to choose France.

Italy or Austria, being #$%&ed by geography or beset on all sides by powers starts you with a problem to overcome.

i like to start with Turkey, its probably the easiest.  it starts in a corner with noone around.  its 1st major rival is Russia, but only if russia make the decision to go south.  most russians have a tendancy to start north (Finland/Sweden) and battle England.

Germany is the most challenging for me.

I always like to play the United Kingdom, referred to in the game as England because England starts the game with two fleets and one army rather than two armies. I like boats and the ocean.
