It doesn't necessarily have to be name brand, or to show us you shelled out the 400 bones needed to play Pebble, but it might be an interesting exercise so that we can all find some interesting spots to play when we travel . . . Tell us the course, city, state, and why you like it so much.

  1. I've played over 100 courses in my life.  Pebble Beach has to be my all time favorite.  But if your looking for a "normal" course....it would have to be Old Greenwood.  It is up about an hour above Sacramento

  2. If you are in Indianapolis, Indiana, play Purgatory Golf Club.  If you're a low handicapper, play it from the tips.  It is the longest non-mountain course in the world(over 7700 yards from the tips).  The holes have names related to the name of the course.  A couple of examples is "h**l's Half Acre" and Stains of the Inferno.  The course is north of Indianapolis in Noblesville, Indiana.  It's 15 minutes away.

  3. The Jubilee Course at St Andrews.  While the Old gets all the glory, the Jubilee, right next door, is a tough, fun test with some terrific holes.

Also, Cruden Bay in Scotland.  It looks like it was designed by an madman, with blind shots, funky greens and it's d**n tough.

  4. a few yrs ago I got to play Sawgrass on the monday following the TPC.  It was Brutal....but The greatest course that I have ever played on.   ( actually got away with and 84 and par'd the 17th)

  5. Miami Gardens Florida

  6. I don't play golf, but it has to be Torrey Pines or St. Andrews.

  7. Chamber's Bay Golf Course in University Place, WA, about an hour south of Seattle.  It is a public course, walking only, and is $170 at the peak rate.  It has been open just over a year.  It will host the 2010 US Amatuer, and 2015 US Open.  I played it last week and it was unbelievable.  It will only get better with maturity.

  8. I'm a huge fan a Bandon Dunes (in Bandon, Oregan. a couple of hours away from Portland). It is easily the best links golf in the USA. Both Golf and Golf Digest magazines have named Pacific Dunes (one of the 4 courses there) one of the best in the world, with Bandon Dunes not far behind. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is great (if you like seafood), and the golf is amazing. Bandon Dunes is unique in that just like the links courses in Great Britain there are no carts, just caddies. I'm a huge fan of links golf, and it's something every golfer has to try once in their life.

  9. Right now I'm gonna go with Bandon Golf Resort. wkaplan888 is spot on for service. Bandon offers a variety of courses to challenge all players. The Dunes is a different type of experience the the Trails course. One of a few courses on the Pacific coast that can be played North of San Francisco in the winter.

  10. Whistling Straits/Irish.

    Kohler,Wisconsin

Very difficult, 18th hole is downright brutal.

  11. pebble beach, amazing place

  12. Mine would have to be Redtail golf course. For those people who do not know what golf course this is it is rated top 3 golf course in Canada. It is located in Port Stanley Ontario. This would be my favourite golf course in Canada. It is located in the middle of no were.
