I tend to bake it with lemon and maybe some basil or oregano just because don't really know any better way to cook it while still keeping it healthy. i don't own a barbeque (wish I did!)

  1. Oven-baked Salmon Recipe

12 ounce salmon fillet, cut into 4 pieces

    Coarse-grained salt

    Freshly ground black pepper

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.

Season salmon with salt and pepper. Place salmon, skin side down, on a non-stick baking sheet or in a non-stick pan with an oven-proof handle. Bake until salmon is cooked through, about 12 to 15 minutes.

  2. i grill mine however salmon cooks fast on the grill so to make sure i get all that smokey goodness i slow cook it. to do this i get a roasting pan and ussually fill it with some water/lemon juice and pour some of the marinade in with it. then i'll set the pan in the grill and put charcoal on the otherside and light the charcaol all this allows for enough heat to grill the fish but at the same time allowing it to grill slow enough to were it doesn't burn. after the fire got going i'll cover the grill and only uncover it when i need to check the fish. now the drip pan will create steam which will go up and hit the fish which absorb the steam giving it a smokey citristy taste. email me if you have any questions. oh the grill that works best is the weber charcoal grill.

  3. BORROW a bbq! The best way is on a cedar plank on the bbq!!

  4. Cook it "en papillote" - in parchment paper. foil is good for steaks and such, but fish is delicate and less flavorful than beef, and will absorb some of that "metal-ly" taste during cooking.

Add some shallots, garlic, dill, white wine, butter, salt, peppercorns, white onions, and seal in parchment paper, cook until fish reaches temp of 131 degrees, depending on size of fillet, up to 30 minutes in oven 375 degrees. normal salmon steaks cook about 10 minutes or less.

    good luck

  5. Probably the healthiest way to cook salmon, or almost anything else, is via poaching or steaming.  I've never done either with salmon but I would guess that simply cooking it in water with maybe a little salt would do.
