Not the big, fancy ones like Commander's Palace or Emerils. Also what's your favorite restaurant in Metairie and on the North Shore?

  5. Mine is Copelands...

  6. I have not been back in years and have no idea if these are even still open but when I lived there my favorite haunts were:

Busters, when it was on Burgundy,quality/ambiance went down once it moved to Jax Brewery

Fatted Calf was across the street from Pat O'Brians...great burgers and fun to watch the two ladies cook.

Clove Grill, on Bourbon...great place to eat late and people watch.

  7. In Metairie.. Sal n Sam's Italian on Vets

    On Canal Street, Mandina's!!!

In the quarter... I love Crescent City Brewhouse.  They have great dishes, raw oysters, duck, pasta, po-boys.

    Also, Redfish Grill is excellent.

In Mandeville, Nuvolari's Italian Restaurant and Mi Mamacita's mexican,

and Rips on the Lake (seafood).

Slidell has my favorite Thai place, Thai Orchid on Robert Blvd.

  8. I always make Napoleon House my first visit when in the French Quarter. I love the hot muffuletta (although nothing beats the Central Grocery for muffs) and a Pimms Cup. The food isn't rock-star quality but I can't get enough of the atmosphere of the place.

For a romantic dinner I like Bayona on Rue Dauphine (bring your credit card!).
