My favorite moment involving Jason Varitek was back in May when he caught Jon Lester's no hitter...which made him the catcher to have caught the most no hitters in MLB history. :)

how about for your favorite player?

  1. my favorite player is ryan braun and its was when he came into the majors last year as a nobody and finished with the rookie of year award

  2. i'm just surprised that manny has 4 homers in 6 games with the dodgers and it took him 23 games to hit 4 in boston.....and he's hustling down the line now too....maybe he did hate us

  3. AJ Pierzynski stealing first base from the Angels in the ALCS in 05.  I love that surly baztard.

  4. Griffey, Jr. hitting his 600th home run

  5. No one particular moment, but any one of a thousand, watching Yastrzemski (!) playing a ball off the monster.  He looked like he always knew when it was going to hit a live spot, or a dead one .  When it was going into the doorway, and how it would come out.

    A thing of beauty indeed!

  6. well i have 4 favorite players

    moment 1 [2005 nlcs]

albert pujols up on a 0-1 count the astros are 1 out from making the world series and the pitch from lidge

    going going going gone!!

it gave the cards the lead and screwed up lidge till this year

    moment 2 [2004 nlcs]

    moment 4 2006 world series

wainwright strikes out brandon inge to win the 2006 world series

  7. I'm a Braves fan, so I caught this guy's glory days, but my favorite player in baseball is probably Andruw Jones. Obviously, as a Brave he did amazing things. I think he is the best defensive CF of our time at least...from what I've seen, of all time, but there was a lot of baseball I missed, so that can only be conjecture...

I remember one moment when we were playing the Marlins...fighting for the division...so obviously the pressure is high. They were mounting a comeback in the 9th (in Florida). With the tying run at 3rd, the batter ropes it into CF. Andruw got a great read off of it off of the bat (like only Andruw can do) and runs over to make one of his signature impossible catches where he lays all out to grab it. Game over..Braves win by 1. That's when we still won everything.

I've been spoiled by him now. If our CF doesn't catch a ball that Andruw could've caught, it brings to light all of his wonderful plays.

  8. Were Derek Jeter got his 2,000 hit vs Kansas City that was special

  9. walk off grand slam by Russell Martin against Pittsburgh at Dodger Stadium

  10. Seeing Robin Yount get his 3000th hit and watching him celebrate at 1st base with Paul Molitor and Jim Gantner, his two team mates for years was a special moment.

  11. Arod when he hit his 500th.

  12. 756 need I say the name?

  13. Ryne Sandberg getting inducted to the hall

  14. chris gomez played every infield position in one game and played right field 2 days later

  15. With Brian Roberts, it would probably be when he got his 1,000 career hit against the Cubs this year. Pretty ironic if you think that he was "suppose" to be the starting second baseman for the Cubs this year.

My other favorite before his career slowed down and he got sent to the minors was Mark Bellhorn. I loved when he hit that home run in Game 1 of the World Series in the 8th inning. I remember he pulled a pitch just foul a few pitches before and then he hit that homer that bonked off Pesky's Pole. He couldn't stop smiling in the dugout afterwards. That's one moment I'll always remember.

  16. I'd have to say Dustin Pedroia hitting absolute bombs for homeruns throughout the playoffs in '07 and then winning ROY. (Or even his diving stop to save Clay's no-hitter. I was at that game, it was amazing)

Or Trot Nixon coming through in the clutch in the 2004 ALCS.

  17. Not sure if I have a favorite moment for my man Dave Winfield. Probably when he returned to Yankee Stadium with the Angels for the first time after the trade and got a standing ovation from the crowd. Even though Winny will never get his number (31) retired by the Yankees, the fans still love him. I always will. He kept me a Yankees fan and gave me some of the most enjoyable memories of my childhood.

As for my second-favorite, Paul O'Neill, it had to be the fans saluting him in Game 5 of the 2001 World Series. It was the last Yankees home game of his career. Thanks a lot, Vanilla.

  18. AJ Pierzynski  swinging at a trapped ball called strike three and running to first and is not called out, which enables Joe Crede to get a game winning double in the 2005 ALCS.

  19. Right now Andre Ethier's 2 out, top of 9th inning left field assist to home plate securing Chad Billingsley's complete game shutout against the San Francisco Giants.

Andre isn't even my favorite player.

  20. JT SNow

    2000 NLDS

Hits a home run to tie the Game and send it to Extra innings vs. the Mets

    awesome

Even though the GIants lost that game, its still one of the Greatest moments in GIants History

  21. None of my favorite players really done too much but I'll say when Eric Byrnes hit that two run homer in the twelfth inning to win the game for us against the twins.

  22. hen pujols hit the three run shot against brad lidge in game 5 of the 05 nl championship series..WOW

    PUJOLS RULE!!

    GO CARDS!!

  23. When Rickey Henderson dominated the League Championship Series against the Blue Jays in '89.  It was such a performance they made a Rolaids commercial over it.

  24. why does everyone star your questions????

whatever. i would say when vald had 8 rbi's in 2004. that was his best year and he couldn't have deserved the AL mvp more.

  25. my favorite player is the say hey kid willie mays and the greatest moment is his famous basket catch with like an 11 inch glove in DEEP center feild

by the way that basket catch is THE greatest catch in baseball history hands down

  26. Kirby Puckett 1991 World Series Game 6 walk off homerun

  27. I'd have to say my man "Wild Thing" Jon Papelbon, when he threw the last strike of the WS, and gave a big ole man hug to Varitek...and you can't forget him dancing in his skivvies when they clinched the division!

  28. This is probably really corny...

But for the 2001 All-Star game, it was Cal Ripken Jr.'s last season and last All-Star game.  He was starting at third base, which he switched over to later in his career.

However, A-Rod, who was starting at short at the time, switched positions so Cal could play the All-Star game in the position he revolutionized. =D

I don't like A-Rod very much, but I just thought that was a sweet moment... Plus it got him some positive PR for once. ;-)

Plus, his first at-bat, Cal hit a home run.

Also, I love walk-off wins.  Any walk-off win, particularly when it involves grand slams with two outs against the Yankees. =D
