  6. Que horror @ Cheesecake Factory!

I would highly highly suggest a place that is out of the way for you.  It's called Babita in San Gabriel (conveniently located just off the 10 on San Gabriel Blvd.).

It's "Mexican" food, but you won't find a taco or burrito in sight.  It's a fully gourmet restaurant, chef-owned and family run.  From the outside it looks like anything but a gourmet restaurant, but once you step inside, it's great.  White tablecloths, homey decor, and very intimate.

The chef/owner will usually seat you, tell you the specials, and recommend and pour your wine.  Make SURE to get the soup, whatever it is.  The guy is a wizard with soup.

Honestly one of the best and most unexpected restaurant experiences in Los Angeles.

If you NEED to stay farther out west, do try Pizzeria Mozza.  It gets a lot of hype, but most of it is worth it.  My favorites are the tri-colore anchovy salad and the sausage and arugula pizza.

    Enjoy!
