  1. I used a Graco one for my daughter and actually i hear they are the number in safety for so many years . the guy at babies r us told me his and told me to stay away from evenflo  that truly their safety rating arent that great . i wanted to buy a chicco one and he advised me togo with Graco if safety is my main concern and quite frankly i dont regret it .

i also bought a neutral color cause i knew i was going to need pretty soon after my daughter. here is a link to the one i got . http://www.toysrus.com/product/prodpop.j...

  2. We bought an Evenflo Aura and I absolutley LOVE IT

We live in a small town in BC Canada... we get about 20' of snowfall per year and the city isnt great at getting it off the sidewalks. My son was born in December 07. The shocks on this stroller are awesome. A few weeks after my son was born we started going for daily walks. This was his favorite time and always fell asleep. It has a large storage hanger under the seat and it holds alot!! There are 4 cup holders in total, 2 for baby and 2 for parents. + a bunch of zippered compartments and waterproof ones too. It even has a thing by the handles that you can put whipes into with a dispenser out the top (I havent used this but what a good idea!) We got the system in a brown plaid, It is masculine but I feel it could work very well for a little girl aswell.

The only negative thing about this stroller is when you are using it without the infant seat, the back doesnt sit all the way up, it stays a little reclined. This is not a big deal for me at all because my son sits up very well on his own, so he doesnt need the support of the back.

I am so glad they invented travel systems! It is SO easy to take the carseat out of your car and clip it to the stroller, especially when baby is sleeping.

Good luck with your decision and congratulations!

  3. Spences Mom is completely right the Evenflo Aura system is great. I have worked with children for nine years and have never been so impressed by a stroller/car seat as this one. I agree also about it not sitting completely upright but it hasn't been an issue so far. We live in the country and it is great even on dirt roads. A lot of my friends wish they had it too. I got mine in navy blue and soft lime, would be great for either boy or girl.

  4. You may want to consider not using a travel system at all.  Get a good quality stroller and the best car seat you can find (not one where the infant seat pops in and out of the base).

Many parents have ruined their spines and shoulders toting those infant carriers around, which do nothing more than add extra weight, plus you have to carry it at a strange angle in order to keep from hitting yourself in the leg with it.  Pediatricians are cautioning parents against letting their children spend so much time in carriers, as it flattens the head, negatively impacts their neck and back, and reduces the amount of human contact they have.

If you have a good stroller that converts from a carriage to a sit-up stroller, you don't really need the carrier.  And the stroller without the carrier attached to the top is a lot smaller and less cumbersome.  You can usually get a better quality stroller when you buy one that isn't part of a travel system--one with rubber, air-filled wheels and a more comfortable ride,as opposed to the hard plastic wheels that aren't good for much other than indoor floors, and which will crack and break easily if you regularly use them on rougher terrain.

When we didn't have the baby in a stroller, he was either carried in our arms or in a Baby Bjorn-type soft carrier that we wore.

I have never been convinced that the infant carriers with the pop-in base are the safest option for travel in the car.  They just don't seem that sturdy to me (at least the ones that come with most travel systems).  Instead, invest in a super-safe, Britax convertible car seat that you can use from birth until your baby is ready for a booster seat.

EDIT (Reply to Spence's Mom):  I know all seats have to meet minimum safety requirements.  But I firmly believe that some are better built and safer than others.  For example, the convertible car seats we purchased for our son had an additional tether so that the seat was attached by both the front and the back, and provided tension on both ends to ensure that the car would stay put in any kind of collision, regardless of the direction of impact.  There were other saftey features that the seat had as well, such as additional foam around the head and neck area for better protection in a crash.  Most car seats and infant carriers have soft padded covers that go directly onto the plastic frame, but there is no additional layer of styrofoam or anything else on the frame.

I was just trying to give the OP some other options.  I know some people love their travel systems, and that's great.  But we personally preferred to use a separate stroller, car seat, and Baby Bjorn for our needs.  Some things work well for some people, and other things work better for others.

  5. we have the graco quattro tour deluxe...and it DOES have the foam inserts all around baby in case of a crash...i have had the cover off myself and believe me, they are there...it is super easy...has cupholders, snaps into base...if you follow directions for whole thing and for inserting base correctly, it is very stable.....we don't have this color, but it's the same thing, just a diff color....stroller wheels and suspension make a very smooth ride, and it reclines and sits up for a growing kid, and has ahuge basket underneath, not to mention places to put keys, etc around the handle....we Love it!!!

bought an extra base for dad's car, and we are ready to go in a heartbeat!
