Please explain why... yes beauty counts as a reason.

I love pelicans. This obsession started when we were vacationing in Monterrey Bay with my annoying cousins. I was watching the ocean while I was waiting for my dad to get back from some place and the pelicans surprised me by flying up forty feet in the air and then dive-bombing the water. It was just incredible.

  2. Macaws - I helped raise one when I worked in a pet store - he was such a sweet baby and gave kisses.

  3. B&G Macaw, Hyacinth, Alexandrine, Eclectus & Toucans.

  4. I love the pelicans, too! They are due to come into port just any day now..as they follow the smelt. I keep looking out the front window to see if they are here yet.

We have a smattering of them all year long, but in late Summer, they come in huge flocks, and are entertaining and awesome.

But, I love the little songbirds, too. Especially the robins, and house wrens.

Hummingbirds have unique personalities, and you can soon tell them apart. They are so adorable!

But, I think the ones I never tire of watching, are peacocks. They are ever gorgeous, and chock-full of personality. They must be my favorites.

There are three main varieties, and I would love to have some of each..

This is the variety we raised for many years: Indian Blue Peacock>

we have a red tailed hawk that has a nest in the woods behind our house, and we see her often (we think its a girl). She hunts in our yard and around our neighborhood, once she even took a mouse that was drowning out of the pool(and ofcourse, ate it, but we didn't see that)!

  23. Golden Eagle

When I was 15 and visiting my grandparents in Oregon, I was walking along the road at the base of a mountain, and spotted a golden eagle circling above my head.  He seemed to be looking at me and challenging me to climb his mountain. 2 days later was my only opportunity, so despite feeling very poorly that day, I decided to climb it.  There was no path, and it took most of the hot and humid summer day to do it, but I did.  The last few hundred yards was climbing up a  rocky steep slope with few tall trees here and there.  At the summit I sat and looked out over the beautiful Rouge River valley and the eagle swoops over my head from behind and lands not even 20 feet from me on a branch (which was about at eye level to me).  He looked me over for a few moments, tilting his head to the left and right as if to say "Good Job! You made it!", and then he screeched and took off, circling up higher and higher till I could not see him anymore.
