I like the Gold Coast - it's incredible to see all the old mansions of Astor near huge skyscrapers and condo buildings, and the lake and a beach are right nearby too.

It's cliche, but Lincoln Park.  It has the best restaurants, is the most walkable, has the best public transportation, is near the lake, and has great views of the downtown Loop.

I was born in Chicago, I dont know many neighborhoods because I dont live there anymore but I would have to say anywhere in the South Side, because thats where I was born!

Andersonville. It's got a great mix of people. Straight and g*y. Young and old. All nationalities. A couple of storefront theaters. A few of the bars are great. There are some great small restaurants and it's not too crowded like Lakeview or Lincoln Park. In the winter most of the bars sell glogg. I'm not a big fan of it, but it's nice to see a tradition. Some places even sell it to go even though they're not supposed to (I can't tell you which ones!) The Midsommar Day fest is pretty nice. All in all it's a great Chicago neighborhood.

Hyde Park can be a close second because of the great architecture; the U of C campus is fantastic. You feel smart just walking around there!

Lincoln Park or Lake View, the atmosphere is great!
