Most of the people anywhere in the world are not of the smart sort. Therefore most of them will not consider NY-er a good publication to read. I am buying it once in a while here in Europe, without being a snob or Podunk, even not being an English native speaker. So if you want to stay above the crowd, ignore their recommendation. I consider NY-er to be one of the finest periodic publication worldwide. Be yourself. Reading widens the horizons. Why don´t you get the magazine at your local store and decide then whereas to subscribe or not.
