  1. I dont think its right if its like, forced. But if the woman is covering up out of her own free will then thats fine by me. Alot of non muslim woman dress modestly too without looking frumpy or whatever, I think its just a generalisation that skin = sexiness

Yesterday I saw this girl, she mustve been in her mid teends and she had a lot of uuhhm..puppy fat . And dude, trust me, SHE couldve done with some lessons on modesty. Im not saying that it was cos of her size, it would have look atrocious on ANYONE. Her jeans were 3/4 and they were sooo tight that literallt half her butt crack was visible and her tee was ridicoulsy smallsmallsmall.

  2. It is their business.

  3. They are probably doing it for religious reasons.  I don't know what your definition of "overdress" is though, so maybe it's just their culture or tradition.  My opinion of that is very positive one.   I am sick and tired of seeing all these girls prancing around like prostitutes, with clothes that are two sizes too small, bare midriffs, and love handles oozing out of their booty shorts with "juicy" written all over the ***.  It's trashy and garish, and it looks desperate, as though you're trying too hard to prove that you're "s**y" or fashionable.

When I was a teenager I used to dress more like this, (although not completely--mom wouldn't allow it).  And now that I'm almost 25, I've long since completely changed my style of dress.  I realize now that it has to do with being comfortable with my own body and who I am as a person, more than anything else.

  4. Many women prefer to dress modestly. Nothing wrong with that.

  5. If that is what makes them comfortable.

I would like to see less muffin tops with their stomachs hanging out of their shirts and thongs sticking out of the top of jeans; it's just yucky.

ETA:  Thank you Anita for your post because I had not even thought of the women who are forced to hide themselves from the world.  I makes me want to pass out hugs!

  6. Some do it out of choice, others are forced to dress like that.

The women who dress like that out of choice, I think they are very brave especially considering the negative reactions they must get for it. I also think they do it for their own reasons... the reasons being they want to be judged on their mind & personality not just by their appearance. They want to be looked at as a person & not as a piece of meat.

As for the ones who are forced, I feel really sorry for them.

Edit: Needle&Thread you're welcome. Yes unfortunately there are Muslim & even non-Muslim women who are oppressed & forced to dress a certain way... by their fathers, husbands, etc.
