I think he is over rated. Sure, he is good. But he is not the God you all make sound like.

  1. He's one of the best players these days...

    :)

  2. Well, in the "NEW" NHL, I think he's the best player in the league. Overall, I refuse to compare him with the likes of the players from yesteryears, because the game has changed so much.

  3. 1 word: ovechkin

  4. i hate crosby oveckhin is so much better.crosbaby is a lil crying *****

  5. Crosby is a great player. Is he better then Gretzky? No, but he is still one of the best players in the NHL. As a Flyers fan, I see Crosby a lot and he is a great player who is only going to get better. I think Ovechkin is better, but I still think Crosby is up there by him.

He is a great player with a lot of enemies...

  6. Boo hoo crybaby who couldn't keep up with Detroit.

  7. he is a good player,  and will probably rank top 5 in scoring to end his career,

I'd rank the top 5 as Gretzky, Messier, Ovechkin, Howe and then Crosby

  8. As you can tell from my avatar name, I love him. Everything that Kimberly wrote is absolutely correct. I can't say anything more.

  9. C'mon, Bee, you're a Wings Fan....you should be more knowledgebale than that.  Sid is one of the top few players on the face of the Earth...and I would be saying that even if I didn't live right here in the heart of Steeler Nation, in the shadow of Mellon Arena.

I say one of the best few, because I don't think there is ever one best hockey player in the world (or even the NHL)....there are just too many different playing styles.

I mean, if you say Crosby's the best, what about Ovechkin...different styles, how do you compare them....you decide between Sid and Alex, what about Lidstrom...totally different positions requiring totally different skill sets with totally different standards of excellence...how do you compare them? Decide among them?  Well, what about Osgood or Lundqvist?

That being said, Crosby is totally deserving of his stature in the game...although you're right...any really knowledgeable hockey fan would know better than to treat him like some kind of hockey god.

And can you imagine that, as a player, Sid the Kid is still in the middle of his learning curve?

  10. he's a great player, (and I mean GREAT!!) and i don't like him cause he lacks grit and I like to see finess guys like crosby get squashed...

I would rather have on my team or watch a guy like Joe Thornton or Alex Ovechkin

  11. I can understand why people are sick of hearing about him, but he's an awesome hockey player.

Not many players have accomplished all this in under 5 seasons:

        * Pittsburgh Penguins' franchise record for assists in a season by a rookie (63)[51]

        * Pittsburgh Penguins' franchise record for points in a season by a rookie (102)[51]

        * First rookie to record 100 points and 100 penalty minutes in a season[52]

        * Youngest player in NHL history to record 100 points in a season[21]

        * Youngest player in NHL history to record 200 career points (19 years and 207 days)[53]

        * Youngest player in NHL history to have 2 consecutive 100 point seasons.[54]

        * Youngest player to be voted to the NHL All-Star Game[55]

        * Youngest player in NHL history to win the Art Ross Trophy[5]

        * Youngest player in NHL history to win the Lester B. Pearson Award[28]

        * Youngest player in NHL history to be named to the First All-Star Team[30]

        * Youngest player in NHL history to be named a full team captain (In January 1984, Brian Bellows of the Minnesota North Stars was made interim captain at 5 months younger than Crosby, but he only served the latter half of the 1983-84 season replacing injured captain Craig Hartsburg)

    I rest my case.

  12. He is a good player but i am sick of hearing about him.

  13. I think everyone thinks crosby is overrated because he doesnt score 50 goals every year, he has more assists, which are just as important.

plus everyone is going after him so he doesnt have all the chances to score goals

  14. No he's not a god, and he is also not a complete player yet. If he killed penalties, and killed them well, I would not think he's over rated. I'm sure he will eventually start doing so, maybe a coaching change would make that happen sooner. But if he is the best player Pitt has, shelly should have him out there for ALL situations.

For example, if he intercepts a pass on the PK, you want a Crosby or Malkin to be flying down the ice trying to stuff that shorty in. As soon as he becomes a complete player, I will think more highly of him, until then, he is just another offensive genious to me.

  15. I think he's weak and not old enough to play in the NHL. Sure hes a good player but the whole North America keep saying how hes soo good for his age blah blah blah. Booby Orr was 18 when he was on Boston Bruins in 1967. Now I sound like Don Cherry but all well. Sidney Crosby needs to smarten up. He needs to pass more. The thing that really pisses me off is when people say hes the next Wayne Gretzky. People think he is the God of Hockey. You see 4 year olds wearing #87. Why not wear malkin's Jersey? or Chris Pronger? Or Mats Sundin? WHY?

  16. You just nailed it right on the head. He's a great submariner though.

  17. Do you know how many times this question has been asked

  18. i love him. end of story. bye.

  19. he's not overrated, he is an excellent player and thats all.. nothing more, nothing less

  20. Crosby is one of the best playmakers in the game. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. Hate him, love him, end of story.

  21. Crosby does have his downfalls.  He is the best playmaker in the league, as well as one of the best at stickhandling.  With the NHL now, in my opinion, can be explained best through NFL like conditions.

Comparing Crosby and Ovechkin is like... comparing a QB to a RB.  Crosby is the best at his portion of the game, and Ovechkin is the best at his.

Playmaking, team play, controlling the puck... Crosby is #1.

Two way play, scoring, checking... Ovechkin is the best... simple as that.

You compare the two together... in my opinion you have one of, if not the best, player in the whole league.

Jordan Staal is the most overrated in my book.
