What do you think of as "taking it too far"?

Or do you think that you can't take it too far?

I'd love to hear all opinions.

Thanks!

  1. what is a body mod????

  2. I regard it in a "to each their own" fashion.  I'm tattooed and would never pierce anything except my lobes.  I don't think there is a too far.  People like the lizard man and the guy who is entirely tattooed with puzzle pieces make their living off their unique look.

  3. I consider body modification to be a huge part of my life. I'm more of a piercing person than anything else and have 14 piercings. I have one tattoo with plans for more. For me, I cant imagine my body without out its pieces of metal, and like the others before me have said, I feel they are meant to be there.

I dont really think there is such a thing as taking it too far, because what is too far? Everyone has different opinions, so you cant really give an answer to that, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that good stuff.

    So thats my opinion. =)

  4. I enjoy body mods when done right and for the right reasons.  I think that since it's become much more socially acceptable that young kids are getting them just to get them and are treating them as fashion accessories when they don't realize what kind of harm they can do to their bodies.

For me the definition that you provided is pretty limited.  I consider cosmetic surgery to be body modification as well.  I think when people have BDD and doctors continue to work on them time and time again it gets to be a bit too much.  When you start to look like a doll and not a person, then I feel that it's going a little overboard.  There's a difference between making yourself look how you feel you're supposed to look and continually altering your appearance based on your distorted perception of yourself.

  5. Body Modification is a HUGE part of my life & who I am.  It's a very spiritual journey for me.  Always has been.

I know I could never even imagine not having my stretched lobes- they really are a part of me.  I feel that they, like my other piercings, are supposed to be there.

What's too much and what's not can be very, very subjective.

Personally, I believe that too much are when mods begin to hinder you physically or emotionally.
